For meals, the hotel has its own restaurant, and the town centre is about a 10 minute walk away with many restaurants and cafes. You can find places like Bam Pow, Lichi Restaurant, Zinc Port Douglas, Hi Tide Cafe Bar Restaurant, and Oak and Vine Port Douglas nearby. Macrossan Street, also about 10 minutes on foot, has a bakery, convenience store, supermarket, and food bars. For a casual bite, Hi Tide By The Beach cafe is on the Four Mile Beach side of town, and Sparrow is a quick coffee stop. The marina area, about 10 minutes away, has Hemingway's Brewery and Barbados for drinks and meals.
Bay Villas Resort sits in a quiet, flat part of Port Douglas, just a short stroll from the town's main strip. Macrossan Street, about a 10-minute walk away, has a bakery, convenience store, supermarket, restaurants, shops, and a post office. The Sunday Markets in Anzac Park are also within an easy walk. You can reach the beach or the marina in about 10 minutes on foot, and the local bus service runs into town and back. The area is mostly residential and peaceful, yet close to the everyday conveniences and coastal sights.
From Cairns Airport, the drive to Bay Villas Resort takes about an hour along the scenic coastal road. You can book a pre-arranged coach transfer or airport shuttle in advance, or hire a car at the airport for the drive north. The nearest stations are Marina Mirage Station and St Crispins Station, both close to the resort. If you prefer not to drive, a taxi or ride-hailing service from the airport is a straightforward option. Once you reach Port Douglas, the resort is on Davidson Street, just a short walk from the main town area.
In the evening, you can walk about 10 minutes to the town centre, where restaurants and cafes line Macrossan Street. The marina, also a 10-minute walk away, is a pleasant spot for a stroll. For a drink, consider Lichi Restaurant, Zinc Port Douglas, or Hemingway's Brewery, all within easy reach. The hotel's own restaurant offers a convenient option if you prefer to stay close. After dinner, a short walk to Four Mile Beach Lookout, about 9 minutes away, is a nice way to end the day.
Bay Villas Resort is a great base for exploring Port Douglas. You can walk to Wavelength Reef Cruises in 9 minutes, 4 Mile Beach Lookout in 9 minutes, ABC Reef Safaris in 10 minutes, and Trinity Bay Lookout in 11 minutes, so the marina and beach are close. The town center, with shops and cafes, is about a 10-minute walk away. For further sights, Wildlife Habitat is 4.0 km away, and Mossman Gorge is 13.8 km, so you will want a car or a local bus for those trips. The resort is also well placed for day tours to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree, which often include pickup. It is a convenient spot for both beach days and exploring the wider region.
