Hidden Lodge has its own restaurant, so you can start with a meal right on site. For more options, the town centre is a short drive or bus ride away, where you will find The Bunker Restaurant, My Thai Lounge, Caribe Latin Kitchen, and Rodd & Gunn, The Lodge Queenstown. Steamer Wharf also has restaurants and pubs with live music along the waterfront. These places are all in Queenstown, about 3 km from the lodge, so plan a quick trip into town for dinner.
Hidden Lodge sits in the quiet Sunshine Bay area of Fernhill, a short drive from Queenstown’s lively centre. The lodge’s own restaurant is right there, and the nearby Arawata Track and Little Sunshine Beach are just a short stroll away, with Aurora Point and Gilly’s Point about a kilometre off. Downtown Queenstown, with its lakefront and sights like Skyline and the Fear Factory, is roughly 3 km from the lodge, so you’ll want a quick drive or bus ride to reach the main action. The setting feels calm and scenic, with Lake Wakatipu close by, while the town’s restaurants and evening spots are easy to get to when you fancy them.
From Queenstown Airport, it's about a 20-minute drive to Hidden Lodge Queenstown. Taxis, Ubers, and regular buses can get you here; the bus stop is close and convenient. If driving, follow the route through Frankton Road into Queenstown, then take the Glenorchy road to Fernhill Road, and turn onto Arawata Terrace and then Evergreen Place. The lodge is at the end of the street, on the right. There is no main train station in Queenstown, so the airport is your primary arrival point. A pre-booked transfer or ride-hailing service is a straightforward option.
In the evening, you can dine at the hotel's own restaurant, then take a short drive or bus into Queenstown town centre, about 5 minutes away. There, Steamer Wharf offers restaurants and pubs with live music, and The Bunker Restaurant is a cozy spot for cocktails. Skyline Queenstown, 3.3 km from the hotel, has a gondola up to a panoramic bar and restaurant. For a quieter evening, a stroll along Lake Wakatipu near the hotel is a pleasant option. The hotel's Stoked Woodfired Hot Tub and sauna are also available for a relaxing end to the day.
Hidden Lodge Queenstown is a good base for exploring Queenstown, though the main sights are a short drive away. The Tiki Trail, Queenstown Gardens, Fear Factory, KJet, Skyline, Kiwi Park, and Ziptrek are all about 3 km from the lodge, so you will need a car, taxi, or the nearby bus to reach them. For a closer outdoor option, Little Sunshine Beach is just 180 m away and Arawata Track is 200 m, perfect for a quick walk. The lodge is a 5-minute drive to downtown Queenstown, and you can also walk along Lake Wakatipu into town. From here, you can easily join popular tours like the Milford Sound cruise or a jet boat ride, with many operators offering pickups from the town centre.
