Response from the property
Dear Debbie Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We were particularly disappointed to read that we missed the opportunity to acknowledge your husband's birthday. I have since spoken with the team and understand that you chose not to dine with us during your stay. We traditionally acknowledge special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries, when guests join us for dinner, usually with a small celebratory treat from our chefs. On this occasion, as you did not dine with us, we unfortunately missed the opportunity to recognise your husband's birthday. Please accept our sincere apologies for this oversight. During your stay, Rotorua experienced some of the coldest and crispest winter mornings of the season, which unfortunately resulted in significant condensation on windows throughout the region. While this is a natural occurrence during these weather conditions, we understand how it detracted from your enjoyment of the beautiful lake views from your suite. We were also sorry to read your comments regarding the room. The Lake View Lodge Suite you stayed in is one of our most beautifully appointed rooms, and while we appreciate that every guest's expectations are different, we regret that it did not provide the five-star experience you were hoping for. We note that you stayed with us on our winter "Pay 2, Stay 3" offer, which provides exceptional value during the quieter season. While we're pleased you were able to take advantage of this promotion, we're sorry that the overall experience did not leave you with a more positive impression. Thank you again for your feedback. It has been shared with our team as we continually strive to improve. We wish you both all the very best for your future travels. Kind regards, Ann Gregor General Manager

The hotel's own restaurant, The Mains, offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with lake views, plus a bar and cafe on site. For other options, central Rotorua is a short drive away, where you can find places like Atticus Finch and Leonardo's. The hotel's cafe is also handy for a lighter bite. You can enjoy meals right at the lodge or head into town for more variety.
On the Point sits at the tip of the Kawaha Point peninsula, where Lake Rotorua wraps around five private acres, so the setting is quiet and lake-focused. The city centre is about a 5-minute drive away, and the lodge is a 20-minute drive from Rotorua Regional Airport. Nearby, you can walk to Rotorua Canopy Tours in about 24 minutes, while Skyline Rotorua is 2.1 km away. Kuirau Park’s mud pools and Government Gardens are each about 3.4 km from the hotel, and Polynesian Spa is 3.8 km. The area is residential and peaceful, with the lake and birdsong close by, and central Rotorua’s shops and sights are a short trip.
From Rotorua Regional Airport, the lodge is about a 20-minute drive. You can take a taxi or pre-book a transfer, which is the most direct way. If you are driving from central Rotorua, the lodge is a 5-minute drive from the city centre. The airport is the main arrival point, as there is no train station in Rotorua. A taxi or ride-hailing service will bring you right to 214 Kawaha Point Road.
For an evening out, start with dinner at the hotel's own restaurant, The Mains, which offers lake views and a set menu. Afterward, you could take a short walk to Rotorua Canopy Tours, about 24 minutes away, though evening zipline times vary. For a longer outing, Skyline Rotorua is 2.1 km away, and the Polynesian Spa is 3.8 km, both reachable by taxi or ride-hailing. The hotel's bar and cafe are also on site for a relaxed end to the day. You can also book evening experiences like Te Puia's Te Pō Indigenous Evening Experience with dinner, which is a popular city activity.
On the Point is a great base for exploring Rotorua. The Rotorua Canopy Tours zipline into the ancient forest is a 24-minute walk away, and Skyline Rotorua is 2.1 km from the lodge. Kuirau Park's mud pools and Government Gardens are each about 3.4 km away, while Polynesian Spa is 3.8 km. For sights further out, like the Agrodome at 5.0 km or Redwoods Treewalk at 6.2 km, you can drive or take a taxi. The lodge's own restaurant and bar make it easy to relax after a day out.
