This property has potential with some necessary investment. Pros - Ample parking. Outdoor pool & 3 x spa pools. Close to lakefront. Quiet. Cons - Suite Room size was good but everything was dated & not in good condition. The bedroom wallpaper was lifting. The TV was tiny. The in room spa had pieces missing. The toilet seat was stained yellow. The outdoor balcony was dirty, dusty & covered in cobwebs. Incredibly disappointing. Not worth the room rate. Close to the airport & lake but a $40 Uber ride into the city centre. Asked for extra towels & they never arrived. Trout Fly are attracted to the indoor lights in significant numbers. I won't be recommending.

If there was a half star rating I would use it!!!! 8 people across 4 rooms stayed here after completing a great walk. Specifically emailed before booking and asked about the spas availability. no problem they will be hot and ready for use. We were off grid and when i returned to service i had 3 phone calls within 2 hours asking me when we were going to check in even though they had been notified we were late. Checked in, receptions tells us sorry no breakfast avaliable tomorrow our restaurant is closed but there is McDonalds down the road.... exactly what you want to hear from a spa resort. checked in went to use a spa, all 3 were no hotter than 27.5 degrees. When asked they told us the water was changed but was free pools down the road. After seeing reason they tried to add hot water but only 1/2 drained one spa so we got 34 degrees. I mean the fact they cant keep 1 of 3 spa pools hot seems like very poor business practise when you advertise yourself a spa resort. Gave up used the sauna and then went to have a shower in our room, bath mat was stained as per images. Mould in shower, very tired. Spoke to reception and have emailed since our stay and they are ignoring me. If i could give half a star I would as we booked 4 rooms and they just took our money and didn't provide any of the facilities the website details. Wouldnt stay here again. 1 April Edit after resorts response below…. @ Wai Ora resort if you really cared and appreciated my feedback as you say below you would’ve responded to my emails or followed up with me.

When we checked in the receptionist couldnt find the key for the room she was going to put us in and gave us another room key and changed the booking. Our room smelt like it hadn't been opened to fresh air for months. I turned on the Air Con on to try and get some air flow, I lifted the lid of the air con to check the filter was clear and a number of dead trout flies fell from inside the air con. The kettle was broken but this was replaced quickly. When we went to check out we waited for over 10 minutes for someone to see us. The cleaner walked around the whole facility trying to find someone but there was no one able to check us out so we left the key and left. It is a great location but needs a lot of updating and cleaning to bring it up to a nice standard.

We had a really nice stay here. Our room was very spacious and clean. The shower was nice and hot too.

The food was delicious, but they served us the same thing when we ordered two different dishes. They didn’t inform us when the kitchen was closing and when we ordered dessert at 9:02pm they refused because it was after 9pm. That’s when we noticed how quiet the restaurant was. The staff work here to go home on time, not to earn money for the business or to service the customer. As we said, ice cream doesn’t need cooking… At 9:05pm we went home wanting to spend more. Bizarre! We recommend dining elsewhere.

Stayed recently at this resort, A group of older ladies weekend away, Staff were amazing and couldn"t do enough for us. Meals were fantastic. Sadly the accommodation is very tired and bathrooms need a thorough clean.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at WaiOra. I had read some 'not so great reviews' and was slightly anxious to stay there. But what a lovely resort. Staff were so friendly and helpful and willing to assist with all our requests. The sauna and spa pools/baths do need some TLC as they are well used. The Sauna needs some work with sealing off holes and the Spa's need repair on the jets as some don't work. But we still made the best of our time. I highly commend the chef at the restaurant. The food was so yummy (we just had 1 dinner and 1 breakfast there). I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get the 10% off our meals as per our booking agreement on booking.com and we only realised this after we had checked out and was on our way to our daily activity. I recommend that reception staff pay a little more attention to the conditions of the booking agreement. But otherwise, I recommend this for a relaxing, romantic getaway.

What a massive let down. We paid $380 for our room. It was tiny and had no cold water. No sky movies to watch and you had to enter your own Netflix details. The pool desperately need resurfacing, and daily cleaning - it’s clearly just been left to its own devices. The garden is screaming out to be weeded. Rotten pool furniture is just the icing on the cake. There is no shade at the pool. At all. The umbrella has a stand with no cover which is bizarre given our UV levels in NZ. It feels like a foreign owner but apparently not. Bryan and Lisa Hughes are the proud owners of this spa ‘resort’. I enjoyed my massage. It’s not up to Thai Touch standards but it was fine. There was no one in the bar. We waited 15 mins to get served. No cocktails were available as they didn’t have the staff who understood how to make them. My husband ordered a Merlot and was served a Rosè. Absolute Faulty Towers vibes. Will never come again
