Love its quiet location though it's not in the downtown area. The free hotel shuttles made it very convenient to get to and from the train station, and you can also get off at the the morning market in the morning shuttles. The room I booked is small but comforatble and adequate. The staff were polite and helpful. The free happy drinks and late night ramen/ice-cream were a nice touch. Selections at breakfast were not vast, but it's enough. The highlight was definitely the onsen, especially the outdoor bath above the river. I would definitely stay here again if i return to Takayama

Service and Staff are Great. They offer Shuttle Bus Service to and from the Takayama station free of charge several times a day. Every Evening between 5-7 PM, Guests can enjoy an alcoholic beverage of choice totally free of charge and 8-9 PM they can get a small bowl of Ramen or Ice-cream also free of charge. Rooms were a little small but spacious enough to accommodate 2 people. There is a Family Mart right across the Hotel which is very convenient. The Breakfast was good but I would have liked if there were few more items in the Breakfast menu. Worth the Price, Overall a Recommended Stay option if you are visiting Shirakawa or Takayama.

Quiet location though it's not in the downtown area. There is free hotel shuttles made it very convenient to go to the train station, but the room a little bit small. The highlight was the onsen,in door and the outdoor.

The hotel looks very traditional outside but it is renovated to contemporary style inside. Rooms are bit small in size but ok for a night stay. There is a convenience store just opposite which works 24 hrs. So you can get anything you need .

The Tabino Hotel is located outside the centre of Takayama in a semi rural location but provides acomplimentary bus service to and from the town centre. This was the first onsen hotel I stayed at in Japan and I was addicted to the onsen from my first experience. There is an indoor segregated onsen and an outdoor onsen with no gender restrictions. I loved the outdoor experience, although the chilly night and steaming hot water,limited my time. The toiletries in the onsen were divine. Our room was very small, but we weren't there much. There is a konbini just opposite and a larger supermarket a short walk away, but if you want a meal then you need to take the bus downtown. The walk along the back road past the paddy fields was delightful and the nearby women's rock, and men's rock are highly recommended. I also love the Tabino chain's nightly free drink ritual.

In principle this could be a fine hotel with a good Japanese breakfast and excellent baths. The ramen and drink service in the evening is nice too. However, the rooms are very small and with the furniture they put in it there is insufficient space for two suitcases. So you and up paying for a premium hotel where you cannot even open your suitcase. Not good. Also it is too far away from the center to walk there. We had a car so this was not an issue for us, but if you travel by public transport you need to use the infrequent shuttle service.

The hotel is far from central area of Takayama. If you are going for ski it’s good to stay there. No restaurants around. Staffs were so good. And rooms are also clean. If you ignore the location rests are good. You can have the welcome drink from 5 pm to 7pm. It would be good if we can have it while checking in. So we couldn’t have it. We can have complementary ramen or like. Dessert after 8 pm.

We enjoyed this hotel so much! it snot in the center but you can be there in the free bus in 10 minutes or with city bus in 15. They offer free beer, ramen, ice cream! Wasing machine and drier could be better maintained but it really worked properly.Personal is so nice with the customers.
