I felt that the staff was very rude sometimes because we were ignored. A lot of locals went there during our stay in August of 2026, they got first priority and often times cut the line in front of us. During buffet times, we did not see the server unless we flagged them down. But they were helping other families at the buffet and making multiple trips back to their tables. I brought the water from my room because it was hard to get them to come to our table to even just fill up our water cups. not all the staff was like this though, there were a couple of outstanding staff that were very kind and friendly. The rooms were pretty decent, nothing extraordinary, the beds were okay, the shower was large but we didn't have hot water the entire time we stayed there. They had music at the pool everyday. The beach was okay, it was very Rocky and lots of seashells. The spa and the sauna were nice though. We didn't get a chance to use the gym but I got a massage and a facial and the masseuse did an amazing job and I felt very relaxed afterwards. The quality of the food was okay at the buffet, but if you make reservations at one of the two restaurants, I felt it was a lot better there.

Buffet food is mostly always the same. And it’s often cold. Food by the pool is inedible. Only can use the restaurants 1 time on a 5 day stay. That is there rules. So you are stuck with the buffet. Missing tiles from pool. Hot tub not hot. Same temp as pool. Locals use all the beach loungers and staff allows it. Staff looks literally bothered to help you if they will at all. Night time entertainment was good. Room was good but they didn’t restock drinks everyday. Toilet was broke when we arrived. And room keys would often not work. Food by the pool was inedible. Staff screamed at my son for not having a shirt on while inline for pool bar. 90% of men didn’t and they were fine with that except for my son. Lady literally screamed at him. Ran out of coke for 2 days. And sprite for 1 day.

Good place to stay, can't complain about free food and drinks, although they are super cheap. Only issue I had was it was quite dirty everywhere. I know its hard keeping everything clean but the public bathrooms always had some sort of half eaten food laying on the ground. Other than that really good place to stay. My girlfriend and I were there for 6 days and they gave us 2 free meals at their restaurants that they have on site which were amazing. Not a perfect resort but for the price it was well worth it. Amazing pool, right by the beach and an awesome staff. Also its a little ways away from the town, but the scooters you can rent make it pretty easy to get there so can't complain to much. Last thing they got a pretty good view of the sunset.

The resort is beautiful! The rooms are clean, the whole property is really nice, quiet, and the staff is generally very friendly. Just keep in mind: slow down, because no one is in a hurry here! 😄 Juliet did a wonderful job cleaning our room day after day. And if you have the chance to meet Carlos Granados at the restaurant, take it! This guy added so much positivity to our trip day after day! What a genuinely nice person (from your new Canadian friends! Haha!) The only thing that brought our rating down a little was the food. We found it somewhat disappointing for a hotel of this category. The beach is beautiful, with huge waves when you catch low tide and walk a little farther down the beach from the hotel. Overall, we had a really nice stay and would definitely recommend the resort!

Our stay at Occidental Tamarindo was wonderful. The location is beautiful, surrounded by lush vegetation, and it’s very convenient to walk between the different facilities. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the bed was perfect after a day of exploring Tamarindo. The staff was always friendly, smiling, and happy to help.|We also booked our airport-to-hotel transfer with Nomad Tours Costa Rica, and everything was very easy. Communicating with Gabriel through WhatsApp was super convenient, and he was very flexible with our schedule and any changes we needed to make. We also booked a catamaran tour through Gabriel, and it was absolutely fantastic! The prices were also very reasonable, and the service was excellent.|We highly recommend Occidental Tamarindo if you want to stay somewhere with easy access to everything Tamarindo has to offer.

We stayed at Occidental Tamarindo for 1 week in July. The hospitality exceeded our expectations. We were greeted well everywhere we went. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping checked on us everyday. There had to request plumbing service a couple of times, but they were quick to arrive and fix the plumbing issues. The entertainment every night was awesome. The lunchroom staff including Adina and Francina were very friendly. Food was delicious and was available constantly from 7am to 10pm. The hotel is a 5-minute drive to downtown Tamarindo.

The location of the resort is about 2h bus drive. Overall, the resort is really nice only two bars and at night you have the disco bar. Everything closed at 10 o’clock for the food. Make sure to have a back up for the food. The buffet honestly was pretty blend and always the same type of food there is only 2 restaurant à la carte and you are only allowed one every three nights stay. Honestly, we rented a golf cart and we went driving around Tamarindo I do suggest everybody to go downtown really good restaurant and a nice little stores. The pool was nice and clean the ocean wise unfortunately we were not able to go in. It’s most likely a place for surfers. The cleaning service was the best part never had an issue. The room was always clean needed anything we got it
