We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in August in a junior suite. The room was large and the space and terrace were great and suited a family of four. Some elements of the room could do with some maintenance, such as a missing knob on the shower, the bathroom door not closing properly and the coffee machine not working. The check in was easy with friendly staff. The check out was not as easy as the staff member was quite rude when I asked for a breakdown of the charges before paying, which I thought would be standard practice. I am glad we had a room only option and didn’t pay for breakfast as we went down one morning to try it out and the definitely wasn’t worth the additional €20 per adult. Lots of sweet pastries but the hot food options weren’t great. The staff at breakfast were very friendly though and the breakfast room has a spectacular view. We enjoyed the pool area, though the pool needs a good clean and maintenance (a large hole with sharp edges towards one side scraped my daughter’s foot on a few occasions). We didn’t get sun loungers one day as it was quite busy, but the staff are attentive and did their best to find us a lounger as soon as one became available. The location is great for exploring the town, we didn’t mind the steep hill to access the hotel, but it is worth considering if you have issues with mobility or small children in a pram. In all a good stay, it was expensive which is reflective I think of the area and the pool which is rare enough in Taormina.

Good location near to main shopping street. Needed help with the luggages up the steep slope but couldn't get assistance. View was fantastic.

At the price point of over 500 euros per night this hotel is very disappointing with regard to the following: 1. Rooms while clean are very dated, walls are cracked and in need of plaster and paint. 2. Bathroom also dated, cracked vanity, moldy and slippery shower. Shower door does not seal so water soaks the floor. 3) Minimal air conditioning and common area except the lobby have no air-conditioning so its sniffling hot! 4) Elevator shaft has chunks of concrete missing and rebar is showing. Felt very unsafe. 5) Pool is very old, tons of green algea around the walls and pool deck furniture is old and full of pigeon poop. 6) No food available after 6 pm. 7) Location is difficult to navigate at the bottom of a very steep street and no options for people with limited mobility except to climb the very steep stairs that have huge chunks missing throughout. A structure like this one would be condemned in North America or at best have a 2 star rating. The only two redeeming factors of the Monte Tauro are the breathtaking views and the staff. In particular, Antonio, Marco, Pancrazio and Rosalia were outstanding! They went out of their way to provide second to none service and hospitality. They treated us like family, I cannot say enough about these 4 amazing individuals. Grazie di cuore Antonio, Marco, Pancrazio e Rosalia, sieti stupendi!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Go to this hotel for fantastic views, a panoramic view of the sea. We travel a lot and stay in 5 star most of the time and can't understand the negative comments. No question, the hotel is tired, but our experience of Italy is that many hotels are similar. However it is very clean and the beds are comfortable. The patio was large and very clean. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice and very nice staff. Pool service is outstanding, the guys will always find you a sun bed, take you to it and give you towels. As it is not a huge area, I thought sun beds would be a problem, but no matter what time, there was always somewhere available. Yes, there is a short hill to climb (2 minutes), but how else would you get the amazing views and also right in the centre of town. Don't go to this area of Italy if you want to avoid hills or steps. We really enjoyed our stay in Taormina.

This hotel is a very specific experience and you should know the pros and cons before choosing it. Pros: outstanding view from your balcony on most floors, quality comfortable beds, clean, quiet, very close location to the main part of Taormina, excellent breakfast buffet with fresh food, decent self serve espresso machines, friendly staff and great views, good water pressure and temperature, strong A/C when needed, ample free bottled water delivered to your room every day, strong wifi signal in our room. Cons: the access road to the hotel is short, but very steep and you will be walking up and down it every time you leave the hotel. Some taxis won't drive down. There is one small elevator for all floors so we climbed 5 flights of stairs quite a few times. The room decor is very dated: think cross between 80's dorm room and hostel. The extra mattresses in the hall didn't help the ambience. It also took us a minute to realize the rock decor on our hallway (floor 3) was actually the cliff side the hotel is built in to. There is no restaurant on site for evening meals. Limited closet/drawer space. The biggest con for us was a treacherous bathtub/ shower combo where the tub bottom is not wide enough for two normal size feet to stand on and it is slippery. Every shower felt like a dare. Still, for the price the location can't be beat. We would likely stay here again for all the pros, but only as long as everyone in our party was safely able to navigate the location.

Great location for us in Toarmina with great views of the bay from our balcony & Mt Etna from the breakfast room. Staff very friendly & welcoming, nothing too much trouble for them and they made our stay very enjoyable. Great pool & sunbeds managed very well by the poolside staff. Towels & parasols provided.

I’ve been pondering about what rating to give this hotel based on our experience. Following another trip, I have to say that this is just an average stay and didn’t quite feel worth the money we paid. The cons from our visit started with not having a room. We were told we were due tomorrow. In fairness, this was rectified and we were given free drinks (although this did take 2 hours and we had to check if the room was ready.) We weren’t given a reason, much of an apology or help with the bags. The balcony is the real downside. The pigeon poo is horrid. And if you want to enjoy some crisps out there, be prepared to have said pigeons trying to share! There also isn’t much privacy between you and next door, just a couple of planters. The cleanliness of the room wasn’t great too. There was quite a bit of dust and the floors didn’t appear to have been swept since we arrived as our feet constantly needed brushing. The other irritation was the shower. The bath isn’t wide enough to stand comfortably as the tap is in the way. We were also left without any shower gel for 24 hours. Location-wise, it’s excellent for Taormina but upon reflection, I would have stayed in Catania. The crowds were relentless and this was only early May. Speaking to a local, White Lotus has created an influx of fans. The plus sides of the hotel were the pool area which has plenty of sun loungers. Shout out to Antonio who was super friendly and looked after us - we always had a little chat when we saw him. Breakfast was nice. Availability of fresh mugs would have been helpful, but otherwise there was a great selection of food and a local stand. You get great views too. Other than the points above, the room was comfy and quiet.
