An absolutely insane experience from start to finish, but wonderful! Definitely the most opulent place I’ve ever stayed. The staff literally could not have been more accommodating, the spa was brilliant, and the food was wonderful - if you wanted something not on the menu then they’d do their best to give it to you anyway. It really was the most amazing place I’ve stayed, and the views and grounds are sublime. The staff themselves are the real heroes too. They went out of their way to bring us remedies when we were feeling ill, remembered every little detail about us and our preferences, and they were all so lovely and chatty whenever we got talking to them properly. I would also 100% recommend requesting a tour of the Taj and also Agra fort at the minimum, and make sure to ask specifically for Muzammil Hussain ahead of time - he’s fantastic, friendly, and really knows his stuff.

We recently visited Hotel Amar Vilas for dinner with family, and while the property itself is truly impressive, the dining experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. The hotel is aesthetically stunning — the moment you enter, the ambience and overall grandeur are simply “WOW.” The staff was also courteous, well-mannered, and attentive, which is exactly what you would expect from a premium property. However, the food was below ordinary. We ordered North Indian curries and breads, expecting authentic flavours, but the taste was quite underwhelming. Of course, taste can vary from one kitchen to another, so I would not make that the biggest issue. The major problem was the service and coordination from the kitchen. The curries and breads were not served together. At one point, we had finished one item and were waiting for the curry; at another, the curry was there but the breads were still not served. This completely disrupted the meal. For a property of this stature, such a basic aspect of dining service should be much better coordinated. Premium property, excellent ambience, courteous staff — but unfortunately, poor kitchen coordination and disappointing food service. Sadly, what should have been a pleasant family dinner was largely spoiled because of the dining experience. I sincerely hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously, because the property and staff have the potential to deliver a truly exceptional experience.

We had a truly exceptional stay here. The grounds themselves are stunning and waking up with a view of the Taj mahal was very special. Service was also very good with no trouble at all for any request we had. Highly reccommend staying here.

Our stay at The Oberoi in Agra was absolutely exceptional from the very first moment. The level of service we experienced was truly sensational and unlike anything we have encountered before. During our stay, our child unfortunately became sick, and the staff immediately stepped in to help without us even needing to ask. Their attentiveness, care, and genuine concern were remarkable and made a difficult moment much easier for our family. This level of hospitality is something very special. The restaurant was equally outstanding. The service was flawless, and the food was of the highest possible quality. Every dish was prepared to perfection, and the entire dining experience was simply sensational. We have stayed in many hotels around the world, but the service here was truly on another level. Everything felt thoughtful, personal, and perfectly executed. We would return here at any time without hesitation and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone. Had the privilege of staying here with my wife for the first time for 2 nights in room no 305 on the 23rd and 24th September 2026. The room was awesome with an amazing view of the Taj from the balcony of our room ! One could sit in the balcony and watch the dance program by young dancers, watch the sunset and the amazing view of the hotel after dusk when the lights are on ! |The Oberoi Amarvilas is one of Agra’s most distinctive luxury hotels, particularly because of its extraordinary proximity to the Taj Mahal.|What makes Amarvilas special ? |The major attraction is really the experience of staying in a Mughal-inspired palace with the Taj Mahal constantly in view. It is particularly beautiful around sunrise and sunset, when the changing light alters the appearance of the Taj.|The hotel has 102 rooms and suites, 24-hour butler service and 24-hour in-room dining. Their service is very courteous and Oberoi is known for its hospitality right from welcoming their guests or going out of the way to help.
