Kato Dool Wellness Resort — Review👍🏼 What we loved: The aesthetics of the resort are absolutely stunning — very stylish and photogenic, with beautiful Nubian-style architecture that creates a really special atmosphere😍 The view from the room over the city, the Nile, and the desert was gorgeous, especially at sunrise. We had a room with a jacuzzi and a lovely view, and we were very happy with it. The food at the restaurant was very tasty. 😋 Rooms were spacious, and there were plenty of nice complimentary touches: shaving kits, toothpaste, slippers. Free bottled water in the room was also a nice plus. We especially appreciated how quickly and easily they arranged transfers — a tuk-tuk ride as well as the airport transfer. What could be improved: 1. Air conditioning — the main downside. The lowest setting on the AC was 20°C, but the room temperature never actually dropped below 23–25°C, which isn’t very comfortable for sleeping after a hot day. 2. Unstable electricity — the power went out periodically, including at night, which meant the already weak AC would stop working entirely, making the room unbearably hot. 3. Wi-Fi — only works near the reception area and doesn’t reach the rooms. Mobile roaming data is also weak because of the resort’s location and elevation. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a known, long-standing issue that really needs to be addressed. 4. Room cleanliness on arrival — dust in the corners, and both the jacuzzi and the hanging swing chair on the balcony were covered in sand. I understand sand blows in from the desert nearby, but it would be nice to have a perfectly clean room upon check-in. 5. Bathroom — water leaks out of the shower area while showering, requiring a mop to clean up afterward. It would help to have better drainage or a threshold to keep the water contained. Overall: This resort is a wonderful experience for a day or two — a chance to soak in the Nubian village aesthetic and enjoy beautiful views. However, for a longer stay it becomes less comfortable, mainly due to the air conditioning and power outages. If those issues were fixed, this would be an excellent resort.

I had an incredible stay at Kato Dool and cannot recommend it highly enough. A special thank you to Raouf, whose hospitality was truly exceptional and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The room was amazing spotlessly clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The views were absolutely unbelievable and made every moment at the hotel feel special. What really stood out was how warm and welcoming everyone on the team was. Every member of staff greeted us with genuine kindness and made us feel right at home. The combination of outstanding service, stunning surroundings, and a fantastic atmosphere made this a memorable experience. I would go back in a heartbeat and look forward to visiting again in the future!

Beautiful place with horrible management. Firstly it’s the communication issue we had online. Many of my message went unanswered for days, I only receive my pick up confirmation a few hours before arriving in Aswan. We also experienced miscommunication about pricing. The manager, Aziz, told us we only need a regular car for our trip, but the front desk later insisted we needed a larger car at DOUBLE the price. After going back and forth, she admitted that no regular cars were available, despite my request months in advance. But I appreciate the manager apologised and offering the bigger car but at the same pricing that we’ve mentioned through WhatsApp. Our boat trip the next day was no better, due to a language barrier with the captain, we were dropped off early and missed two locations included in our package. No tuk-tuk was arranged for our return, and we had to get a local to help us call the captain. When the captain hand his phone over to me to talk to the manager, Mr. Ahmed Aziz, raised his voice at me, spoke over me again and again, even making me feel belittled for wanting a proper explanation about the situation since we were absolutely confused. Not to mentioned, they we’re lying about the closing time for one of the location we were supposed to go to but we didn’t have it in us to argue anymore. The room itself was amazing especially the view, but the aircon was dripping the whole two night that we were there. We have to stay in the same room even after raising our concern and the way they fix it was to put a towel under the spot where it’s dripping.The rest of the staff was extremely helpful and have such an amazing attitude, but the front desk lady and the manager Aziz could do some training with their communication skill :)

I agree that these views over the sand dunes and Nile are incredible and definitely worth staying here for that and for the pool which is rare in Aswan. The rooms, all with Nile view balconies, are also super clean and comfortable. The beds are huge and the pillows so squishy. The Nubian architecture is also super unique and fun. For me, it loses points for the service. Everything is in dollars and it’s pricey. $15 for a simple breakfast buffet which we had for free at our last hotel, non alcoholic drinks $4. We avoided eating in the hotel and ate out or brought our own provisions. The staff weren’t particularly helpful either. It is quite isolated too. You have to get a ropey tuktuk from the gharba soheil village which is a dirt track village too, which was fine but after a few days we were beginning to feel a bit isolated. It’s worth mentioning that you can get a boat from the beach below if you walk down the dune to East Bank. I would recommend this method a lot more over the tuk tuk and then taxi. The boat drivers are nice and they will take you for 50 egp if you ask, but the receptionist didn’t see to think this was possible. All in our two nights is perfect here. I would recommend another one or two on elephantine island which is very tranquil also with some great views and cheap homemade food.

Kato Dool was one of the best hotel experiences we have had. The staff were absolutely amazing, the team beyond helpful, and the food was some of the best food we had in Aswan all together. The hotel is gorgeous, the views unbelievable. Overall, the team, from the receptionist to the staff who helped us carry bags, everyone was so nice mashallah. There was a beautiful sense or peace and 'Raha' here. Thank you so much, we bothed loved it and will be back. 100% reccomend.

Absolutely lives up to the hype. Hotel has such amazing views of the sand dunes and Nile. Architecture and colours are really unique, so fun for taking photos. Staff were very helpful. Visited in Jan when it was cold during the night. Room has an AC unit but no heater, but staff were able to bring a portable heater to the room. Had breakfast and dinner here. Was very impressed with the serving sizes. We ordered just 1 meal to share between 2 girls. Make sure you get the chips/fries, the seasoning they put on was so delicious. Really loved the chicken fajitas too.

In the desert!! Overall, it was an excellent stay. The only slightly stressful part was getting there. You have to take a a bit long tuktuk ride through a desert road, so at first I was honestly unsure whether there was really a hotel in that location. But once you arrive, you’re rewarded with a stunning view and a very calm atmosphere overlooking the Aswan landscape. There are various options available, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Confirmed options: Boat tour: 1 hour, 1000 EGP (Felucca tour not available) Taxi arrangement for next trip: 850 EGP Free tuktuk to Nubian village: 08:00–23:30 Dinner last order: 21:30 Breakfast: 08:00–10:00 Airport transfer by taxi: 950 EGP Pool: open 24 hours The taxi arrangement felt relatively expensive, but if you’re not satisfied, you can take the free tuktuk to the village and try to negotiate with local taxis or tuktuks there on your own. Highly recommended for the view, atmosphere, and relaxing stay. and If I have the chance to come back to Aswan again, I would love to stay here again.

From stunning vernacular architecture with very well thought of details, to outstanding food and service, or maybe a peaceful placement on a top of the hill overlooking the surrounding dunes sweeping into Nile river.
