A very disappointing experience. The front lobby is very nice and some of the staff can be very friendly, but this place became more and more frustrating over the course of our stay. The rooms are shabby and under-stocked (unusable safe, no fridge, no coffee/tea makings, limited bathroom products, etc). This would not be a big deal normally, but felt inconsistent with the four-star description. The service left a lot to be desired. We ordered hot tea to our room and got room temperature (not even luke warm!) water. After a second, sort-of successful try at hot water, the room service staff member left to bring us the sugar we had initially requested — but never came back. He also took the change he owed us for the room service with him. The bedding is thin and insufficient on chillier nights. We called the front desk asking for an extra blanket or two, and we were told that they *don’t keep any extra bedding in stock.* This was a first. A hotel that doesn’t have a single extra blanket available?! All in all, though we encountered a couple very kind staff members, our service experience was subpar to say the least.

Two blocks from the central square and the main church, Hotel Plaza Colonial is ideally located. The building is old with new paint. The elevator is on the small side with two persons capacity. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The amenities are basic. Lobby is small with not much space to sit. The room is very clean except a cockroach parading in the middle of the room on first night we moved in. We reported it to the receptionist and she was shocked as we were.

The lobby is nice and the staff is wonderful. They do not use fitted sheets, so as soon as you get into bed, it become undone. The curtains could use a wash. They have bathtubs which is why I booked there, because I do not have a tub at home.

"We don't have any extra blankets"! is the answer I got from the front desk when I called to ask if they could send us a couple of blankets because the previous night it was chilly, and their one thin blanket was not enough to keep me warm. What kind of hotel doesn't have extra blankets???? Even a motel 6 will have blankets to make sure that its customers don't get cold at night! Poor service and poor room quality was the overall experience at this hotel. One simple room service order for tea took the bus boy/waiter 3 trips to complete, and it still wasn't right. Each time he forgot something so in the end, we ended up drinking cold tea without sugar because he never came back with it, and paying too much for it because he never came back with the change either. The double room has only 2 outlets which means we could either charge our phones or use the computer but not both. There is no fridge in the room, the safe was locked when we came, and no one ever came to open it so that we could use it. The beds are made without any mattress pad, and, there is only one thin blanket which is not enough if the night gets chilly. The bathroom sink faucet and the tub shower are scaly and not clean looking. And yes, there is a constant loud humming noise of some machinery going on even if you don't have your own air conditioner on.

Very ornate looking. But didn’t match up the expectations. Pool very tiny and overlooked. Room was ok. Bathroom nice. View of a car park behind. But it was quiet. Some of the group had rooms overlooking the Main Street and said they were noisy. Breakfast was chaos. Great long queue of about thirty people. You could get a bit more organised. Put fruit cereals etc in one section. Juices. Coffee tea. All slightly separate. But no. All together. So after waiting the long long queue. You tried to grab scrambled egg. On one plate. Balance fruit and muesli and yogurt on top of your plate. And also carry a juice because if not. You’d have to queue again. Sorry but if you’ve got at least two coach groups in. All leaving at 8. Then you should know breakfast at 7 ish is going to be absolutely packed out and chaos. Good job I’m a meat eater. Two vegetarians got the scrambled eggs … with ham in. Then some nice looking Mexican wrap over things. Which looked ok. But what was inside. Cheese and ham. They were nice. But I’m not vegetarian. Those on the group who were. Went very hungry

Just a few weeks ago, my wife and I spent five nights at this hotel. In general, our stay was satisfactory. We enjoyed being close to the main plaza (4 blocks away), and the combined ceiling fan and air conditioner. As seniors we also appreciated the elevator. We did not have any problems with the WiFi, and liked the fact we could watch news channels on a large screen TV. The Hotel staff was gracious and very attentive to our questions, and it is common in Mexico, we were immediately approached by some staff with all sort of offers for private taxi services. Our room was good size, well appointed and very clean. We had no street noise problems at all. However, we would have preferred to have a good breakfast restaurant at the hotel instead of walking every day looking for a place open in the early morning. Yes, it is true that they suggest just walking a few steps to Hotel Plaza Campeche. This we did once and we were very disappointed, the breakfast food was not good enough for us. Hotel Plaza Colonial is at the moment a good place to stay in Campeche, and it could be a great place with a few improvements. Let me mention what those could be; a good breakfast service, a refit of their ancient plumbing systems, and better quality towels and toiletries.

We stayed in room 601 for three nights, top floor. Everything was fantastic however the bed was a little uncomfortable; too hard for our liking. The location was perfect for touring the historic district. The included breakfast is at another hotel close by. It was very tasty and service was very fast however the coffee is way too strong and not hot. The staff at this hotel are very pleasant and helpful. You will hear some road noise but that is to be expected when you are right in the middle of town. We had a spectacular view of the Cathedral from our room which was stunning at sunset. Everything was very clean and tidy. Pool was great too. Safe and secure on site parking was a big bonus. Nice size mini fridge to keep some refreshments. In room safe for any valuables. Really tasty and authentic restaurants within walking distance. I would likely stay here again but for the bed. Campeche is a stunning city and worth the visit.

It’s in Historico Area, but is in two parts diagonally across the street from each other. Microscopic lobby and one tiny lift. My room on first floor was quite large. Tiled floor, lots of wasted space, charmless & somehow cold. All hard surfaces, not very comforting. Two ¾ beds, WiFi, aircon, water, safe, no fridge, but plenty of room. Harsh lighting, no reading lights. Reasonable size bathroom with space, but a stand-in-the-bath old-style shower. Weird breakfast set -up – had to walk across the street to Dining Room in sister hotel. Unusually not a breakfast buffet, but starters of fruit, juice & coffee already laid out. Then had to order next course from the waiter. Ok but limited choice & much slower than helping yourself at a buffet
