I will start with the positive the hotel location was excellent, breakfast was good, hotel staff was friendly. The room is very small and old dated. The washroom of the hotel was terrible and horrible. If you use the sink to wash your hand it's take a while to drain the water. Toilet seat was broken, smelly, stains all over the shower area, light bulb was broken. I requested to the hotel staff members to fix the toilet seat at the time of arrival but still at the time of our checkout it wasn't fixed. I am sharing the pictures for proof. Please maintain your property for the comfortable stay of your customers to grow your business.

Review written by Farida Kamran from Canada, stayed in this Riad May 4 to May 6th 2026 Me and my daughter stayed there for 2 nights. Pathetic service, no one at the front desk to help, stinky room, we booked junior suite thinking it will be better. Poor value of money. Kamal doesn't know how to respect or offer help when I asked for help. I don't know the name of other guy who served breakfast, he behaved nicely though.

We stayed here for 2 nights and arrived quite late to check in on the first night. Location- 10/10 In the heart of the Chefchaouen medina. It helps if you use Google maps or you'll definitely get lost. Hotel/Riad - 3/10 This place needs a refurb. It could be that they were going for the traditional riad design but this just seemed like it was designed 100 years ago. Certain parts need an upgrade. Cleanliness wise it wasn't too bad. Although on the first night, there was bad odour coming from the bathroom. Service - 5/10 The owner had bad attitude and just seemed miserable the whole time. Then I realised that's his personality so I don't think he means to be horrible, it's just the way he is. He offered to sell his riad to me, and has plans to relocate. So I think he is just bored and fed up of running his riad. Breakfast - 10/10 Cooked fresh to order. The usual traditional moroccan breads, pastries, spreads and eggs. Value for money - 8/10 Cheap and cheerful. Okay for a very short stay and you don't plan to sit in all day There weren't many other options around as the town itself is very quiet in terms of tourists.

The room was very outdated and the shower was disgustingly bad. It was very load and it was very hard to sleep. The staff tried to scam us with some extra tax. However the breakfast was really good. The portions were good and the view was amazing. The view is stunning but to get anywhere from the hotel is very hard there are just too much stairs and the hotel itself is just too hiden. The hotel is too narrow so if there is anyone in the room next to you, you are not gonna sleep. Overall the town is not that bad but if you come here come to another hotel.

Firstly with the positives, the location can’t be beaten, it’s in the heart of the Medina and within walking distance of everything you’ll want to see. The views from the terrace are also stunning, especially at sunset. Plus, the beds are super comfy and we slept amazingly well in them… HOWEVER, there’s some things that this Riad can really improve on to help guest comfort: 1. There is no mint tea offered on arrival which is very strange, as we have experienced this everywhere else we have stayed in Morocco, it’s just a nice touch and shows genuine hospitality. 2. The whole place runs on solar energy which is great, but not so great when there’s no hot water for guests. We spent almost a full day without hot water (so we couldn’t shower) before someone eventually fixed it, after we asked 3 times. 3. Speaking of the shower it’s very impractical, there’s no shower curtain so the entire bathroom becomes wet after every shower which is a little annoying… 4. The bedroom we booked was tiny, like almost too small for two people to stand up at once. This size room is okay for one night, but consider booking a larger room for longer stays. 5. The breakfast is nice, but weirdly enough in Morocco there’s no option for mint tea again? We aren’t coffee drinkers and look forward to drinking mint tea in the morning. We had to request tea each morning and even then it was just normal tea bags. Especially with the room we booked we found our stay a little overpriced for the hospitality we received in return. We’ve paid much less in other parts of Morocco and received a much better experience. If we could give this place a 3.5/5 that would be a fair rating 😊

I stayed at Riad Zaitouna Chaouen for one night and booked two rooms. The riad is charming and well-located in the heart of Chefchaouen’s medina. The traditional decor and peaceful atmosphere made the experience feel authentic and relaxing. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and check-in went smoothly. Both rooms were clean and comfortable, though one of them was a bit smaller than expected. The rooftop terrace offered a lovely view of the city, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment in the evening. Overall, it's a great spot for a short stay if you're looking for a local, cozy experience in Chefchaouen. I'd definitely consider staying here again.

The location of the Riad is fantastic, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Upon our arrival dragging our bags uphill in the heat, there was no one there at the Riad and no one answered the calls to the WhatsApp number pinned to the locked door. One of the store owners close by was kind enough to call the owner on their personal number and it took about 15 minutes for them to show up after that. If it wasn't for the location, this review would have been a lot poorer. There's supposed to be breakfast served, but there was just one person preparing it and no place left to sit. So we skipped it. We also wanted to get a porter to take our bags down out of the Medina, but there was no manager to be seen anywhere, so we had to organize ourselves.
