Linda and I came for a wedding in Athens and wanted somewhere central. We arrived in the evening and found our room neat, clean, well appointed and modern with a view of the Acropolis from the balcony. Tired from the journey we went to the sixth floor restaurant and asked for something light. The staff were kind and attentive but we were completely taken by the view. Watching the sun roll down the distant mountain was priceless. The meal was great, too! Over the next few days, breakfast on the Grand balcony, lunch in the Vertigo Bar and several evening meals were an absolute delight. Reception, breakfast, dining and especially the Vertigo staff were wonderful, complimented by helpful and attentive cleaning staff. All added to a memorable stay and we are already thinking about the next one. If I could give six stars, I would.

Lovely hotel, we arrived early, so went to Vertigo for lunch and the pool until our room was ready. Room 301 has no view of anything, a wall of fake plants, but the AC is cold, room is clean and was fine for our 2 night stay. Location is quiet, but there are a lot of steps downhill to the restaurants and shops in Kolonaki, quite a climb back up. Taxis are plentiful and the front desk is happy to arrange. We requested breakfast boxes, due to an early Acropolis tour, room service and breakfast start at 7:30 am. Very close to Mount Lycabettus for a morning or evening hike or cable car ride. The staff was friendly and able to accomodate our requests.

We booked the deluxe corner suite that cost €600 for the night. We were incredibly let down. They are actually two old adjoining rooms that are pretending to be a suite without being updated to a suite. The decor was cheap. There were no sockets by the bed. The showers are in the bath attached to the bath taps with absolutely no pressure. The cleanliness of the rooms isn’t the best. The view was incredible which was the only thing that we could try and justify the expense but it doesn’t. This shouldn’t be labelled as a 5 star hotel. The service at the pool bar was non existent, the cocktails awful. The breakfast was good. However €600 a night is far too much with the rooms needing serious updating, a better description of the rooms (the pictures are not what are delivered, maybe enhanced). We also spoke to the receptionist about our concerns albeit in English however she couldn’t or made out she couldn’t understand us at all so in the end we just walked away and vowed to use other hotels that looked amazing next time.

The Saint George Lycabettus is truly an amazing establishment, beautifully “watching over” the city of Athens. The views from the room balcony and the hotel’s public areas are simply stunning, with an ever-changing atmosphere throughout the day, culminating in spectacular sunsets. But this review would not be complete without a very special thank you to Vasiliki at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Her genuine kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to help made a real difference — bravo! It is precisely this level of personal, thoughtful service that distinguishes a true luxury hotel with a strong tradition of hospitality from the rest. Beautiful surroundings are wonderful, but it is exceptional people and exceptional service that create a truly memorable stay. We will definitely be back!

Great location - a two star in a five star location. As we arrived the room was not done and we had to wait in the reception for 30 min. Had they only told us to go to the rooftop it would have been great, but we sat in a couch in the reception. The room is not bad, it is ok, but not EUR400 per night ok! What makes this even worse is that daily servicing of the rooms appears to be completely absent. Credit does however go to the staff in the restaurants, the are very nice and efficient!

Honestly, a very disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel. We paid €70 for entrance to enjoy the pool and the hotel’s facilities, but I expected a much higher standard. The food menu didn’t even include basic options such as meat. When I asked about the restaurant and what food options were available in the evening, the information I received was so unclear that I honestly couldn’t understand what I was being told. On top of that, the sunbeds were dirty, which is completely unacceptable for a 5-star property, especially when guests are paying €70 just for entrance. And honestly, paying such a high price only to have a view of the apartment buildings of Athens is not something I consider worth the money. For this price, you expect cleanliness, better food options, clear information and an overall premium experience. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet the standards I would expect from a 5-star hotel.Honestly, a very disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel. I stayed for 5 nights. In truth, the hotel was good, however there were a few things that really confused and irritated us slightly. We booked a twin room with a balcony view over Athens and the acropolis. The balcony view was not over the city and acropolis but that’s fine, I understand that accommodation on days can get difficult. However, the TWIN room we booked was a double room. It was two beds stuck together so on a technicality they put it as a twin room even though in truth it should be marketed as a double room since the beds were literally stuck together. But again, fine. The views and breakfast were gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. The pool and bar is so cosy and such a peaceful environment. Breakfast every day was very quaint and up to standard every morning. When ordering room service, we ordered pizza and a beef burger but asked for it without the bacon. When it arrived, or had bacon in it and was almost eaten. When we called room service, they sounded confused and said there’s no bacon in the burger, and we had to explain that there is indeed bacon in it, to which she said it will be remade once the plate is taken. The plate was not taken, and it took about 20 minutes before I reminded them that they wanted to take the plate and check first, and they (I think) forgot and just made the new one anyway. The hairdryer was on and off and then at once just stopped working and we had to ask for a new one, which again took some time to come. However, I would like to point out the service from Gianni. Throughout the stay he was so so kind and helped us out so much with finding our way around the city, giving advice on how and what places to visit, and always being attentive to check if we needed something. His service was amazing and he is extremely hard working, definitely an amazing asset to the team! The hotel is in a very good location in regards to where it is in the city, not too far from any main attraction to be honest but still in a private / hidden area. Overall, I think some areas could be improved but otherwise the hotel is gorgeous looks wise and the staff are very friendly.
