Hotel location is great, we came off a cruise ship and were able to walk to the hotel also the closeness to the Auckland Tower and absolute plus. Cleanliness could be a bit better in the bathroom, especially in the corners, they were a bit dirty. But the room was good.The staff was amazing. We were there when the cyclone was nearing, and everybody was unsure, what’s gonna happen, I contacted the reception and asked if we can reserve another room for the night in case we needed it and they did that free of charge. Fortunately we did not need it and we could fly home but still very grateful for the offer and amazing service.

At the start of the booking I already mentioned that we will be late because we attended the special event in church. So as expected, we arrived at night, and the receptionist John a Filipino was very accommodating, polite, and kind. He even gave us some promotions and vouchers for dinner in case we wanted to dine at the hotel. As first-time guests, we also asked if there was anything special they could offer since it was my and our child’s birthday this month ( September 09). We were absolutely delighted to receive a special keepsake—a kiwi souvenir with the hotel’s name on it. This is truly the kind of warm and thoughtful service you would want from someone at the reception. Thank you! My daughter slept with that special gift and she can’t contain the happiness. I also loved the ambiance of the room, and there were so many choices available for breakfast. As a family of 5 , we’ve got nice 2 rooms. Our vacation was definitely worth it, and we will surely come back again! Thank you for making our stay extra special. Highly recommended! ★★★★★ Great location, friendly staff & super convenient! Really enjoyed my stay here. The location is honestly one of the best things about this hotel — right in the city centre, with the airport shuttle just around 3–5 minutes’ walk away. Very convenient for exploring Auckland. SkyCity, the wharf/waterfront, Queen Street, food spots like Uncle Man and other attractions are all within easy reach. Even getting to Mount Eden by bus was really easy. The hotel itself has a nice, welcoming atmosphere. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed — fridge, heater, TV, private bathroom, and I even got a nice city view. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, including allowing us to store our luggage while waiting for our room. I also really appreciated their service when there was a small issue during our stay. They still gave us a complimentary drink voucher as a gesture, even though I personally didn’t think it was a big deal. Nice touch! 👍 The only thing I think could be improved is the mattress and pillows. The mattress felt a little too soft/sunken and wasn’t the most comfortable after a long day of walking. And as a coffee lover… the coffee at the entrance was definitely a bonus! ☕😂 Overall, a really pleasant stay. Great location, welcoming staff, comfortable room and very convenient for exploring Auckland. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Auckland City Hotel. We needed somewhere within the CBD, that had kitchen space, a parking garage and a laundry. This location had all these things. Some things that I want to share are. The hotel is within the area of the missions and safe housing in the CBD. The hotel itself felt really safe, when you go out exploring you will walk past people loitering on the street. They never bothered us, but it was something we constantly saw over the 3 days. The hotel is trialing single use paper bowls, and cutlery instead of regular crockery. They do supply regular cutlery, and washing up supplies. We were not a fan of the paper bowls and did not know whether we could recycle them or not. The parking is not guaranteed; and there was no space for our car on the first night. There is a parking area across the street which cost us around about the same as the overnight parking at the hotel. Thank you to Auckland city hotel for being a comfortable place to call home for our last few days in the country.

Solid location, pretty close to the sky tower. The rooms are pretty good for the price, we got a studio suite and it was more spacious than expected. Customers service was exceptional, John was attentive and quick to help whenever needed. The breakfast buffet was solid as well, with a good variety. Overall, it was extremely good value for money!

A great value hotel in the city center. The front exterior unfortunately was on construction. It would have been a beautiful architecture to take a photo. The main entrance is in hobson Street while the parking structure which is 30 NZD a day is on Cook street. BEWARE, the google map will point you to the street adjacent to the parking structure and it’s in slope and can be confusing! It was so stressful for my husband driving first time in NZ. There’s a gate to parking area to which the receptionist controls The check in on the other hand was a breeze. John was so kind, courteous and understanding. Also, thank you to Ms . d who thoughtfully had handwritten a personal note. It was delighted with the hospitality. We even got a 20% discount voucher for dinner buffet but we did not try as mostly we don’t eat meat and we always leave very early so can’t comment about breakfast which i believe is 35 NZD The reception and the lobby was beautifully adorned with plants and the piano (which you are invited to play btw with exception to quiet hours) was a lovely centerpiece before hitting the elevators. Even the carpets in the hallway were well maintained as well as the elevator. Our standard king room was large enough and very clean with comfy firm bed. I love that they do practice sustainability and the Manuka honey shampoo and body wash were a plus for amenities. However, the door is very heavy to open and the fridge intermittently made noise. There’s a 24/7 grocery store across the street and a bigger store just 3 mins walk towards the sky tower. Lot of food option further 8 mins walk I highly recommend this hotel when visiting the Auckland CBD area

The Experience from the Perspective of Two ITALIAN Women No deception whatsoever: the rooms are exactly as shown in the photos. The breakfast is rich, varied, and of excellent quality. The rooms also have a hairdryer, a kettle, and a selection of teas, hot chocolate, and coffee that you can conveniently prepare in your room. The cleanliness deserves 10 stars! And we Italians certainly know how demanding we can be when it comes to cleanliness! 😄 Compliments to all the staff across every area and department of the hotel, regardless of their role. A special mention also goes to the staff at the separate bar, which is open all day and is separate from the restaurant and breakfast area. Everyone was incredibly kind and professional. Wear your four stars with pride, although personally, I would give you five! The hotel is right in the city centre, just a 5-minute walk from the main shopping street and all the entertainment. For the aquarium, I recommend taking an Uber. For the museums and the botanical garden, you can take the bus, with the stop just 5 minutes from the hotel, and reach them in only four stops. The area is very safe, even for walking around at night. Truly the best of the best! All the staff were always smiling, kind, and welcoming. You have a wonderful culture and you are truly wonderful people. Thank you for making our stay so special! Data del soggiorno: settembre 2026

We recently stayed at the Auckland City Hotel as a family with 3 kids. The room was pretty standard, but would have liked an aircon in the room and also a bit more milk in the fridge in the room noting that we had a family booking. But the staff were absolutely amazing! Great customer service and very thoughtful especially at breakfast! Oh, and the breakfast was great! Would happily stay there again!
