The customer care is top notch! From the very beginning you are well taken care of by some of the best valet around, and then the desk crew follows up with great service as well. Our room was nice and had an absolutely wonderful view of Austin. Plenty of room and has some nice things you don't find everywhere (the fridge was nicely hidden, etc). The bathroom had a nice little vanity area as well. The only complaint is (like so many hotels) the towels simply cpuld have been nicer - in fact, other than the vanity area, the bathroom could have been one at Holiday Inn...even down to the shower curtain... nothing special at all. The pool is basically a joke - located in the basement and is a lap pool - great if you are using it as part of your workout routine (located with the very nice fitness center) but if you are looking for a pool to sit and relax... nope. Did I mention the view? Seriously - the highlight of the room. Fantastic location - walking distance to everything you would want if you are visiting Austin. We will not hesitate to stay here again.

I had a really wonderful experience with this hotel and their team. During my first stay, things did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, but what truly stood out was how understanding, professional, and helpful everyone was afterward. Instead of dismissing the issue, their team handled it with genuine care and offered me the choice of either a refund for the stay or another stay completely free, which I thought was incredibly generous and thoughtful. I decided to return, and I am so glad I did. On my most recent stay, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was excellent. They not only provided the complimentary room, but they also upgraded our room and even included snacks, which was such a kind touch. It was clear that they truly care about their guests and about making things right. That level of customer service is rare, and it made a lasting impression on me. Everyone was warm, attentive, and committed to making our stay a great one. I’m very grateful for the way they handled everything, and because of that, I would absolutely recommend them to others.

The valet staff were top notch. They were very friendly and were so positive and pleasant that the rather dour mood of the front desk and other staff wasn't as noticeable. Also, the bar staff and restaurant staff attached to the property were outstanding

You could do better. If you aren’t a Gold/Platinum member and/or not getting the better rooms on the top floors, the rest of the rooms are not aesthetically pleasing or special. I know this because when checking in I was given a regular room at first with nothing else. I’m a Platinum member and had to go back down to switch rooms, get my breakfast vouchers, etc. Basically had to go advocate to get the benefits I’ve built up because staff failed to do it. The elevators are annoying if you’re trying to go to the pool/hot tub/gym. You can’t go down the elevator from your room to those places, you have to get off on on the first floor and then wait awhile for another elevator to go down.and all of the elevators go up the whole building so it makes no sense. The hotel though is quiet and not overly busy. The hot tub is open until 11pm. The gym free weights only go up to 50lbs, very disappointing. Overall, you can grab something better in downtown Austin. You could do worse too.

Staff are super friendly and hotel has great service. The pool and gym are nice facilities and I appreciate that the pool is an indoor pool. The elevators are also fast and I appreciate the fact that they require your key to go up. The only complaint I have is the rooms are a little dated and need updating, but they were still very clean. I also got a free upgrade which I appreciated. Definitely would stay here again.

The staff at The Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel were truly wonderful—every employee we encountered was friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome. The hotel itself has real character. Being over 100 years old, it has a unique charm and historic feel that modern hotels just don’t have. The only real disappointment was breakfast. For a hotel charging over $200 a night plus around $60 for breakfast, it was surprisingly poor—more like what you’d expect from a two-star property. The “fresh-pressed” orange juice clearly wasn’t, and the avocado toast came with avocado paste squeezed from a tube instead of being freshly made. Overall the breakfast felt cheap and underwhelming given the price. Despite the breakfast letdown, the friendly staff and the hotel’s historic charm still made for a solid stay.

I wasn't so sure about this hotel when I booked it, but it turned out to be an amazing stay! The rooms are spacious, clean and full of amenities. It was clean, well lit, and had tons of space, especially in the bathroom. The front desk staff and the bellhops were so friendly! This was my first trip to Austin and I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel! I was a solo traveler here for a conference. It was walkable to a chick fil a for breakfast each morning. There are also plenty of restaurants to walk to for lunch and dinner. The bar district was just 3 or 4 blocks away, and I even felt safe to walk back from the bars at night.

We stayed at The Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta for a wedding, and the staff there were outstanding - helpful, personable, and truly cared. From wandering into the hotel and inquiring about a room block to our actual stay the experience was fantastic. Every front desk person, valet, and bartender contributed to a memorable experience. Thank you!
