Montien is currently investing in hotel improvements and the staff lead by Thanya have been exceptional. From Rung and Sim inviting me to enter, too Nancy, Vicki and Bee in reception. My delicious and nutritious breakfast with Bam and Bua, and trainee Parn, to my dinner with the hard working Apple, and always smiling Gift. Yao ensures my room is always spotless and never without a amenities, while Thorn ensure the Sauna is hot and ready to go and the gym is air-conditioned. I know I have missed many amazing staff that have made my stay very pleasant, and I thank them all. Thanya has fostered a culture where all staff genuinely care about guests, and her assistance with my membership was resolved efficiently and was greatly appreciated. Thank you everybody❤️

I booked this hotel for my entire stay in Thailand based on the reviews; which I must say is misleading. This is my 4th trip to Thailand & unfortunately this hotel rates the lowest in my experience. The staffs are friendly, especially floor staffs. The front desk/reception people however gave snobbish vibes. Surprised because all my past experience in Thailand, everyone has always been so welcoming & friendly…not the case with the front desk staffs here. The breakfast buffet was decent & had varieties of food for various taste buds. Having said that though, it was not worth the price. You’re better off walking 5 mins to Terminal 21 & enjoy some delicious dishes at a small fraction of the price at the food court (Pier 21) The lobby area is very nice looking. Nice open space. The rooms (our group had 7 rooms total) are outdated & can use some renovations. The furnitures & fixtures have old wood smell that were very off putting. The pros: just 5 minutes walk to Terminal 21 & the 7 Eleven right near by. The friendly floor staffs. Overall, would not go back considering so many great options available in Bangkok.

The Montien is in transition to become the Marriott Riverside, or something like that, the full Marriott brand. Once the transition is over, all the negative reviews (which are not surprising, the property is older and being renovated) will be obsolete, and the current room rates as well, you won't be seeing these prices again. The setting and building itself are fantastic, I am sure it will end up being 4.5-ish on the Marriott review scale, which Bonvoy members know is excellent. In the meantime it is a great value as-is and one of my favorite Marriott's in the city. The team in place is great, Marriott operations in Thailand are really impressive in general and the Montien team is no exception. For you Bonvoy elites, the room inventory is large and diverse, chances for upgrade are good. Yes, the building is currently a bit quirky, but I don't mind the older rooms a bit, the team keeps them looking as fit as possible through the renovation, and I love the layouts. The beds are Marriott-level great, the room finish is classic, reminds me of the Palmer House in early 2000's (which was nice). The views are fantastic as well. I have no hesitation rating Montien 5 of 5 based on value and service level right now, and know they will be hugely successful going forward.

Motien Riverside is now being renovated and upgraded to become a Marriott Hotel. It will take around 2 years to complete the renovation. It is located in front of the Chao Phraya River, on the outskirts of Bangkok, outside the hustle and bustle of Sukumvit 10-30. The benefit is that it is quiet, reasonably priced, but it is located in a residential area far from pubic transportation BTS or MRT. Since it is undergoing construction, it is noisy with drilling and hammering during the day. Most of the facillities are closed, such as the swimming pool, Executive Lounge and Restuants. The food is very old style Chinese with bad ingredients and taste. It is ironic that you cannot get authentic Thai food. The furniture and bed are old , smelly and uncomfortable. The staff is a mix of existing staff who tend to be laid back and not responsive to guests and newly hired junior employees who have no ideas what they are doing and need to do. They have a lot of people running around in an inefficent and chaotic manner, and ignoring the guests and talking to each other. It appears that the training of the new staff does not exist. This is the case at the Harbour View Restaurant and most of the the Front Desk staff are unfriendly and some are rude. The only saving grace is the two outstanding employees who are knowledgeable, efficient, and takes care of the guests with a smile. Rung at Concierge takes care of the luggages and shuttle bus efficiently and shares his knowledge of the area. Apple at Harbour View takes care of the guest efficiently and knows exact what you ordered in the previous day and prepares the staffs to take care of you, even when she is not working. You should talk to them if you need assistance. When Rung and Apple are working, Concierge and Harbour View restaurant work efficiently since they do the work. When they are not working, the employes are laid back, chaotic and go back to their old ways. I do not know why Harbour View Restaurant has many staff and cooks when they are providing bad food and service, and not doing the working efficiently. Of course, it is important to renovate and provide the modern facilities. However, it is the staff who provides the human touch and hospitality that makes the stay comfortable, worthwhile and you want to return. Overall, the renovation and construction are annoying. Since most of the facilties are closed, it is not a fully functioning hotel. More importantly, there are to many employees who are running around in a chaotic manner without properly being trained. The food quality and taste at the Harbour View is terrible and needs to be changed from the top chef to the cooks. The hotel has a lot of potential, but it is the lack of training and having too many employees but they lack training and guidance. It is the role of GM and Managers to properly train the new employees and re-tool existing employees to prepare for the opening and becoming a Marriott Hotel in 2 years.

Had a great stay at Montien Riverside from 19-25 Sep. Room is spacious and clean with awesome river view. Though there is no MRT/BTS station within walking distance, it is still conveniently located within 5 min walk from 7-11 and Terminal 21 Rama 3 shopping mall (must visit Pier 21 food court, food is good and cheap!). You can also take the complimentary hotel shuttle bus to Asiatique and Saphan Taksin BTS station to catch a 3min ferry ride to Icon Siam. Breakfast was good also. Surprisingly, despite undergoing major renovation now, hotel rooms and common areas are not dusty at all. Didn't hear any noisy banging throughout the week's stay as we were back to hotel no earlier than 7pm. Thanks Khun Thanya and all the friendly staff at Montien for a pleasant stay. We will not hesitate to recommend Montien Riverside to anyone visiting BKK! We will be back! 😀

Giant Hotel with lots of space, in quiet location with clean big rooms. 10/10 will be back. Huge courtyard with tones of space next to river for fresh air, a drink or smoke and no one bothering you. Old hotel but smells good and rooms are very clean and A/C is nice and cold. Hot water instantly on high floor. Very short walk to 7/11 and Terminal 21 mall. Very cheap Grab Fees for any food or transportation because there is No traffic in this area. Best friendly staff that treats everyone very kindly. We ate at the restaurant once, it was good quality Thai food. You can easily walk to the mall for tones of restaurants or get grab delivery also. Huge Gym! Great for lifting weights or cardio.

Extremely disappointing—nowhere near a five-star experience! Our stay at Montien Riverside Bangkok was extremely disappointing. The room was filthy, the floors throughout the hotel were dirty, and the hallways had a strong, musty odor. The room itself smelled stale and contained old, dated equipment. The entire property felt poorly maintained and looked nothing like the five-star hotel presented online. One of our biggest complaints was that the swimming pool was unavailable. The hotel did not disclose this until after we had checked in. The pool was a major reason we selected this property, and had we been informed beforehand, we would have stayed elsewhere. To make matters worse, ongoing construction and renovation created so much noise that it was difficult to rest or relax. We had already paid online, yet the hotel required us to pay again at check-in. Booking.com’s description of this property was inaccurate, to say the least. Several advertised amenities were either unavailable, closed, nonexistent, or significantly overstated. This stay ruined part of what was supposed to be a special birthday trip. Based on our experience, this property falls far below any reasonable five-star standard. I genuinely do not understand the glowing reviews. Do not rely on the Booking.com description—confirm every advertised amenity directly with the hotel before paying.

Old Hotel . And being old we get huge and spacious Hotel Rooms. Although amenities are also old be it in rooms or in washrooms as well . This Hotel itself is very big with many rooms. But guests are very less , So looks empty. Most of the rooms are river facing that is the added advantage. WiFi- they provided was very poor . After complaints they settle . Food: Basic menu . Not very lavish menu , limited no of menu , Food taste is also average. Service: Staff is helpful . Although they don’t have proper amenities in hotel . Location: Good location if you want to spend time out of Bangkok main charm. But if you wanna enjoy city , for its night life , shopping etc then this is To Far from Major shopping destinations. So choose your location wisely .
