Frequently asked questions about Barcelona

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

The best time to visit is May or June, when temperatures are warm and rain is moderate. September is also pleasant, though it is the rainiest month. July and August are the hottest and driest, with highs around 29°C. Winter months are mild but cooler, with more humidity. Aim for late spring or early autumn for the most comfortable weather.

Which area should I stay in in Barcelona?

For first visits, the Eixample puts you near Gaudí's masterpieces and upscale shopping, with hotels like Majestic and Almanac. The Gothic Quarter suits those wanting medieval streets and nightlife, with Duquesa de Cardona nearby. La Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya offer central convenience, with Olivia Plaza and Kimpton Vividora. For a quieter, residential feel, Sant Gervasi is calm and green, home to Hotel Boutique Mirlo.

What are the must-see attractions in Barcelona?

Start with the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece and the city's icon. Park Güell offers colorful mosaics and sweeping views. Casa Batlló and La Pedrera showcase his imaginative facades on Passeig de Gràcia. For football fans, Spotify Camp Nou is the home of FC Barcelona. Ciutadella Park is a green escape with a lake and the Arc de Triomf nearby.

What day trips can I take from Barcelona?

You can take full-day tours to Andorra, a small mountain country with duty-free shopping and scenic valleys; Girona, a medieval city with a well-preserved old town; and the Costa Brava, a rugged coastline with coves and beaches. Montserrat, a mountain monastery, is also a popular day trip. These tours cover the destinations in a single day, so you can see them without planning your own transport.

How many days do I need in Barcelona?

Plan 3 to 4 days for Barcelona. In 3 days, you can see the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and the Gothic Quarter, plus Montjuïc Castle or Ciutadella Park. Add a fourth day for a day trip to Montserrat, Girona, or the Costa Brava, which needs a full extra day. If you want to include Spotify Camp Nou or Tibidabo, allow a fifth day.

As a family, we spent a fabulous long weekend at the hotel. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and specially Wendy at the reception. She's real asset to the business. The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. The foods were delicious; breakfast and dinner. Despite being located in the heart of Barcelona, the hotel had a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. Highly recommended!

I wanted to write this review while I was still in Barcelona as this hotel deserves all its excellent ratings.|I brought my 18 year old son to Barcelona as part of his birthday present.|On arrival we were met by Mote on reception who was extremely helpful|Check in was very smooth and our twin room was spacious, clean and quiet. |The beds were very comfortable and it was honestly the best night's sleep I've had in a hotel and this is a compliment as I have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels. |We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on that.|Easy access to the metro and other amenities/attractions |Would definitely stay at this hotel again .|

This was our first time in Barcelona. First, let me say that Javier who works there is amazing and appreciated all of his help and advice. We had an excellent stay in a junior suite. We traveled with 2 adults and one teen, there were 2 rooms so we got to sleep separately, worked well. The room had everything we would need and then more. Pay for the breakfast buffet to be included, it was perfecto! This is a quieter part of the city but incredibly easy to get everywhere and many good places to go eat, ask Javier!

Perfecto!!! Catalonia Rigoletto set the bar very high for our Barcelona trip; this was made extra clear when we moved to a much more expensive and overall worse hotel near the city center. In the future I will only be staying here! The staff are so kind and generous, and we felt especially welcomed by Wendy at the front desk. Our room was spacious with strong AC and water pressure, TV, fridge, and plenty of water and various drinks. In record-breaking summer heat, our hotel room was much needed refuge during the day. Even though the location is a bit further out from the city center, it's actually quite convenient to take L3 anywhere and we found the quieter surroundings here to be preferable. The neighborhood is so serene and beautiful, and the wide streets reminded us of home. Last but not least, get the breakfast buffet!!! This was the best breakfast buffet we have ever had. Full of local specialties and very healthy. I hope to come back to Catalonia Rigoletto someday. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

I was extremely disappointed by my experience this morning. The waiter, Juan Carlos, was rude, unprofessional, and spoke to me in a very aggressive manner. As soon as I took a coffee, he immediately ran after me with the payment terminal, making me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. More generally, I found the staff to be unfriendly, disrespectful, and unwelcoming. I felt that I was treated differently, which left me with a strong feeling of discrimination. This experience completely ruined my impression of the hotel, and I would not recommend staying here.
