Perfect location and excellent service within budget. Just a small walk away from Liceu Metro Station and little further down to beach. Rooms get cleaned everyday which was amazing. Great experience overall.

Excellent staff working within a poorly maintained, uncomfortable property. I stayed at Hostal Fernando for six nights and unfortunately experienced serious problems in two consecutive rooms. In room 216, a crack in the ceiling began actively leaking water around midnight. The room also had a strong damp, musty smell. The overnight receptionist responded immediately and moved me to room 205. The following day, I returned from a day trip to find a substantial puddle beneath the air-conditioning unit in room 205. When I turned the unit on, it continued dripping onto the floor directly above the luggage shelf. The hotel was full, so I could not be moved that evening. Maintenance staff had to work inside my room while I secured and relocated my belongings, and I faced the prospect of packing everything again and moving into a third room. The repair eventually held, and I remained in room 205 to avoid further disruption. The property was also extremely noisy. The walls offered very little sound insulation, and guests in the adjoining room were loud on consecutive nights. The bed was uncomfortable, and the air conditioner blew directly onto it. Although the Gothic Quarter location is very central, I found the surrounding streets intensely crowded, noisy and exhausting. Travellers seeking a restful stay may prefer another neighbourhood. I want to distinguish the property itself from its staff. The front-desk employees—particularly Carlos, Hamid and the overnight receptionist—were exceptionally kind, responsive and professional. Carlos coordinated maintenance, offered secure storage and refreshments, and did everything possible to help. Management ultimately apologized and refunded €126, equivalent to one night of my stay, which I appreciated. Nevertheless, the refund could not undo the forced midnight room change, second water leak, maintenance intrusion, poor sleep and substantial vacation time spent dealing with accommodation problems. The individual employees were excellent, but the property did not provide a consistently safe, comfortable or restful stay. I would not stay here again.

Great value for money hotel in the middle of Barcelona's oldtown. Very modern rooms and friendly front desk staff. If you have to leave before breakfast time, the staff will provide a picnic bag if asked a day before. The breakfast selection is nothing special but completely sufficiently. Big recommendation.

We are loving our stay. The room has a tv which conects to the Internet and dtv. There is a nice shower and the bathroom is clean The staff are warm and friendly, very helpful in making sure your stay is comfortable. The restaurant staff are happy to help and answer any questions. The reception staff make you feel safe and at home. It is excellent value in the centre of the Gothic quarter. There are shops, churches and food places everywhere. Perfect.

The rooms are very small and basic (and very clean) , BUT if you aren't looking for luxury, this place has GREAT location , a very nice breakfast buffet, it's own restaurant and a staff that is extremely helpful in creating the experience you want in Barcelona. Plus, it's quiet and the mattresses are perfect...best sleep I'd had in 3 weeks. Walkable to two Metro lines, The Ramblas,, the Boqueria and Santa Caterina markets, the Picasso Museum , the Cathedral, a hundred restaurants of all price levels and many shops.

This was well located in central Barcelona but it was on a quiet street. Close to La Ramblas. There was a basic cafe next door that served food. Nothing fancy but adequate with 10% off as a hotel guest.I found the room to be very small with limited natural light but for my 1 night stay it was fine. Maybe I would have been wanted more space if staying for longer. It was clean and everything was functional.Staff were pleasant and I managed communication in Spanish.

Amazing hostal / basic hotel in central area of the gothic quarter. We had a double room with en-suite. It was very quiet and very clean. Staff was friendly. Price was high, but that is normal for Barcelona. It was basic and had everything we needed. The location is 3 mins from the metro, and local to many places. Would highly recommend.

Location is wonderful and that’s about it! Overpriced and loud which didn’t bother me because good location but the front desk brunette man with black glasses was extremely rude the entire time. I cut my foot in the shower because it’s not properly built and had trouble walking the rest of the trip :( I would never stay here again
