From the moment I arrived, I was treated with the upmost kindness. I had many interactions with 3x male members of the team working on reception last week. Each of them helped me, looked after me and went above and beyond for anything that I asked. As a solo female customer I really appreciated all of their kindness. The cleaning ladies were kind too, always said hello, smiling and one of them even helped me find my room haha! The room was so spacious, comfortable and perfect for working. The hotel is near by a park where I would wonder to enjoy the sunshine and super easy to walk in and out of the centre. Lots of coffee shops near by too. For the price, it was totally fantastic and would recommend in a heart beat.

Good accomodation and staff, location as well. Would highly recommend not getting the breakfast and spending the money to go somewhere decent. Overall a good place to stay.

Well located, clean and practical accomodation. Would improve pillows (too thin) and breakfast options for non gluten/ dairy diets.

It’s a 10-minute walk to the city centre, and it’s far from the noise of tourists. The only thing is that there is no hand towel and you have to use the bath towel to dry your hands.

The room is nice and was comfortable with reasonable space. Everything was properly clean and all amenities were working just fine. I just wish the breakfast was slightly better. The most interesting bread type, eaten by most was constantly finishing. Overall, the conditions were very reasonable for the given price.

Location is perfect, clean room and friendly staff. We went with our 2 dogs (no more than 15 kg each) and everything was good. For the price, being pet friendly and the Kindly staff I would 100% recommend!

Too much expensive for the type of hotel that is. The bedroom had just 2 small towals for showering and the bed was super uncomfortable with a pillow that felt like a second bed sheet. There was not enough space to hold the clothes, very small desk for a big room and no plugs near the bed, only in the entrance and neat the desk. Almost no shower gel, was almost empty. The breakfast was not that good. The bread was frozen and only heated when we asked for it. Not that many options for the high price. The coffee was also not good. The staff was also not that friendly.

Frequently asked questions about Braga

When is the best time to visit Braga?

The best time to visit Braga is from May to June and September to October, when temperatures are mild and rainfall is lower. July and August are the hottest and driest months, ideal for outdoor sightseeing but can feel intense. The rainiest stretch is typically from November to February, with cooler, wetter weather. Spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable conditions for exploring the city's sights.

Which area should I stay in in Braga?

Stay in the historic center, around Sé and the pedestrian streets near Arco da Porta Nova, for easy access to the cathedral, gardens, and restaurants. The area around Avenida Central is also central and convenient, with shops and cafes. For a quieter stay, the Bom Jesus do Monte area offers a hillside setting with the sanctuary and park nearby. Hotels like Burgus Tribute & Design and Hotel Moon & Sun are in the center, while Hotel do Parque is at Bom Jesus.

What are the must-see attractions in Braga?

Start at Bom Jesus do Monte, a hilltop sanctuary with a grand stairway and sweeping views. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro is another important pilgrimage site. Santa Maria de Braga Cathedral is the city's historic core, while Arco da Porta Nova marks the old town entrance. Relax in Santa Barbara Garden, and see the baroque Palácio do Raio.

What day trips can I take from Braga?

From Braga, full-day tours head to Guimarães, Portugal's first capital, with its medieval castle and historic center. The Peneda-Gerês National Park offers waterfalls, nature, and local tastings. Another tour goes to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and the border town of Valença do Minho, known for its fortress. These are the main day trip options.

How many days do I need in Braga?

Two days in Braga let you see the main sights: Bom Jesus do Monte, the Cathedral, Arco da Porta Nova, and Santa Barbara Garden. Add a third day if you want to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro and the Biscainhos Museum at a relaxed pace. A day trip to Guimarães or the Peneda-Gerês National Park would need an extra day on top of that.
