The apartment is spacious and comfortable. The manager is very friendly and helpful. You would need to buy shampoo, body wash, toilet rolls etc for a long stay. The location is good and quiet. We enjoyed our stay.

Had a 4 night stay in June 2026. During this entire period throughout the day this place has decided to do roof maintenance and restoration works. We were placed on the top floor of 3. From 8am -4pm every day the place has sounded like a war zone. Corrugated iron roof sheeting above being high power pressure sprayed, roofing sheet tec screws being drilled and replaced. Cranes and ropes and hoses swinging outside our balcony and windows and crane operators passing by - the large crane parked in the carpark has made accessing the carpark difficult, and the petrol motor noise of the crane and pressure sprayers all day. Typical tradies yelling at the top of their lungs from ground level to fellow workers on the roofs. This stay has been anything but a "holiday apartment". The manager/owner Heinrich offered us as a solution to change room initially- but this would make no difference as the entire complex is experiencing same. A free night was offered which has been agreed as ok recompence, but really its so unprofessional not to have told guests that were booking on the same period this work was known to be being performed prior to taking their booking and money and having them settle into a self contained 'holiday' apartment. Its deceitful and dishonest. We would have made other arrangements for sure if told as should have been done. You will also have a rail line with an early train pass by about 50 metres away each morning.

We had a wonderful stay at Citysider Holiday Apartments. Heinrich was a fantastic host, so welcoming and helpful, and gave us lots of great local information. The apartment was spacious and well set out, and we loved watching the Kuranda Scenic Railway from our balcony. The pool was great too. We would definitely recommend Citysider and would happily stay again!

Upon arrival at the apartment, our first impression was that everything was okay. The host was really welcoming. The location is decent, though slightly too far from both the beach and the city center to be truly convenient. What really stood out, however, was the lack of cleanliness. The first thing you see when entering is the fridge, and the top of it was honestly quite dirty, clearly not cleaned for a long time. The balcony was covered in bird droppings, and several pots and pans in the kitchen were not properly clean. Overall, it felt like the apartment hadn’t had a proper deep clean in years. But we didn't want to make a fuss about it. Shortly after arriving, I took a shower and ran into an issue. The shower head was positioned incorrectly, and when I tried to gently adjust it, a small plastic ring broke immediately. These things can happen, so I reported it to the owner right away. To their credit, it was replaced quickly with a much sturdier metal fixture, which initially seemed like a good solution. However, things changed at checkout. We were suddenly told $50 for the replacement of that small plastic part, including labor costs was charged. This felt very unreasonable. The part appeared worn out and broke under normal use. On top of that, it was replaced with a much better and more durable metal fixture, which felt more like an upgrade than a repair we should be paying for. What made the situation worse was the owner’s attitude. When we explained that this didn’t feel fair, there was little understanding, and we were simply told that we had broken it and therefore had to pay. Then we mentioned that we hadn’t complained about the poor cleanliness during our stay, this was dismissed entirely, because his wife does the cleaning. All in all, the apartment itself might have deserved a passing score, around a 6 out of 10. But due to the lack of cleanliness and especially the unpleasant and unfair handling at the end of our stay, I unfortunately can’t give it anything other than a failing score. If you book it, pray that you don't accidently break the old stuff, because its a lucrative business model.

The hotel is not that bad, but the manager (Heinrich) is allergic to any criticism. Just read through his reactions to a bad review. You will be astonished by his abusive language and threats. |Every now and then I browse through his despicable reactions and ask myself when Booking.com will reprimand him!

When we arrived in the morning around 10 am we were able to check in straight away! That was greatly appreciated. Heinrich and his wife (happy Birthday) are so helpful + friendly. (Happy anniversary to you both) We got 10% off vouchers for the Aquarium and you get discount by booking tours through him. Got a two room apartment for the two of us= plenty of room (double and a twin). The apartment was spacious and had everything one will need. You can even get bath towels for the beach or snorkelling. The beds we found very good: we slept very well. Heinrich offers transfers too. Just ask and compare to Uber or taxi. Only approximately a 12-15 minutes walk to cairns central shopping centre and in approximately 25 minutes to the boardwalk. Very good and convenient location as we did have no hire car. Wave from the balcony when Kuranda rail drives past and watch the beautiful bats gliding past at dusk. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

If you are looking for an affordable and a comfortable stay in Cairns, this place is Highly recommended. It's only a 15-20 minutes walk to the Cairns Central Shopping centre and it pretty much got everything. Also very close to the train station and the harbour. Also our host Henrich is very helpful and such a lovely personality. We also got lovely welcome board when we came into our rooms (first picture) . He gave us some very good recommendations on the surrounding's when we checked. He also offers drop off's to the harbour and airport and they are both for a very reasonable price. If you are coming to Cairns, this place is highly recommended.

I recently stayed at the Citysider Apartments in Cairns. Prior to arriving I read that Apartments had Foxtel, toiletries, free pool towels, linen change, clean towels & shower curtain change after 7 nights. Lovely balcony to sit outside.|On arrival there was no toiletries, pool towels cost $2 & no Foxtel. We had to ask for a linen change & never got clean towels or a clean shower curtain. Our curtain was dirty & mouldy. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom which contributed to the mould on the walls & shower curtain.|The filters in the dryer & washing machine were disgusting, never cleaned. The main bedroom was unhabitable due to the overwhelming stench.|We were on the ground floor & the outside patio hadn't been cleaned for months. |It's in the middle of nowhere with no public transport available. |Promises a lot but gives very little! Best thing was the pool.
