Location was perfect. Views from the balcony were amazing. The food at the hotel was top tier! Service from the staff at the rooftop pool was exceptional. As a solo traveler, I highly recommend this hotel.

I want to start by saying that Elkin was an incredibly friendly and hospitable bartender, and deserves a raise! That being said, we stayed at Las Americas Casas de Playa and had a mediocre stay. We arrived via the Torre de Mar entrance and did not get any offer to help carry our baggage to our room at Casas de Playa which is a good walk aways. No buildings are labeled so it was difficult finding our tower and room. Our room was okay, but didn't even have a coffee maker, and when I asked for one, they brought one without coffee pods. I had to walk to reception to request coffee pods, which ended up being 4.500 COP. Pools close super early (between 4:30pm and 6:00pm) which I thought was weird, and we only found out that there was a gym upon leaving. We ate at Bijao and the Mojarra was super dry as well as the arroz de coco. Mar and Tierra was great though. Our server looked miserable and was unfriendly and disengaged, as was about half of the staff here. The entire place, including the newer Torre de Mar, looks delapidated and is falling apart, with noticeable black crusting and cracks all throughout the outside of the building. About half of the staff were friendly and helpful while the other half seemed like they hated being there. For the price, you're better off staying at Sonesta and taking the short walk to the beach.

This hotel may have been a five-star place 20 years ago. The facilities are clearly old, but that is not really the issue. Older hotels can still feel charming and well cared for. Here, everything just feels neglected. From the moment we got out of the car, the atmosphere felt cold. Bellboys, Reception, the waitstaff… no one made us feel welcome. It honestly felt like we were an inconvenience the entire time. Waiters would walk right past us without even acknowledging us, yet they were very quick to bring the bill. Service charge was already included, and I honestly regret not asking to have it removed considering the level of service. I requested a crib for my three-month-old baby and was told it would be sent to the room. I had to ask again, and it still never arrived. I used to love coming here years ago. I came back out of nostalgia because I wanted to show this place to my baby. Sadly, this visit was a real disappointment.

I've stayed here several times in the past and always enjoy it. It is a great hotel....on the ocean with nice sunsets, large balcony with beautiful views, great staff. I want to say that a person at the front desk named Rafael was awesome! Super professional, helpful, and friendly. Great security, nice staff.

It’s a nice place to spend time with your family. Specially around the outdoor pools. The major issue we had the hallway from elevators to the coffee shop always smells like fish. Very disgusting. The smell comes from the Columbus restaurant and the other thing food options were superficial. Very simple. For example u stay in a luxury resort but shrimp or fish is not part of the buffet. Some very tasteless chicken and pork ribs and pasta with Alfredo and tomato sauce different kinds of cheapest fruits and vegetables for salad stay all day out without proper ice. First day in the afternoon I had salad and it was hot as hell and I swear the tomatoes were like cooked. The other thing I think they need a grill pro chef, the cheeseburger we ordered twice medium well but it was raw and we couldn’t eat as well as steak, we ordered medium well they brought a steak as soon as we cut it it was completely raw and plate were full of blood. I’ll try another resort next time. I was hungry there all the time.

The beach needs better sitting arrangements, the umbrellas are not really wide enough, the chairs are all dirty and plastic. The rental tents are dirty, low and not appealing. The swimming pool has no umbrellas, it is impossible with the sun to stand it. The workers are not happy, seem overworked or not satisfied. Rooms are ok. Location by the highway. It used to be a top resort.

I had a very nice stay overall during my weekend in Cartagena. The food at the hotel was excellent — really flavorful and well prepared — and the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful throughout the stay. They truly made the experience feel welcoming. The rooms are a bit older, but they are comfortable and perfectly sufficient for a weekend stay. One thing that could be improved is the noise: the air conditioning units made some unusual sounds, and noise from neighboring rooms could be heard quite easily. That said, despite these small inconveniences, the overall experience was very positive. The great service and good food definitely made the stay enjoyable, and I would still recommend the hotel for a pleasant visit in Cartagena.
