This hotel makes you feel like family. The front desk staff are very knowledgeable about the hotel: Pro Tip, ask for a free room upgrade - you'll probably get it. The MJ bar downstairs has great drinks - the mimosas are on point with fresh OJ and great bubbly. The rooms have great views and are very clean. There is a good- sized Starbucks integrated in the downstairs. Great place for kids as the pool is HUGE and indoor.

This place is absolutely incredible! The service from the moment you pull up until the time you depart is impeccable! The bell service is flawless! They load your luggage onto the cart and take it to your room and do the same when you depart. They were so friendly and helpful! Also, we swam at least once a day in the magnificent pool! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay! The location ensures that lots of attractions like Millennium Park and Navy Pier within walking distance.

Absolutely wonderful stay at the InterContinental Chicago! The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was immaculate, exceptionally clean, and beautifully maintained. The bed was genuinely the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, and the pool and gym were both amazing. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the overall experience was fantastic from start to finish. We truly loved our stay and would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago. We can't wait to return!

Extremely Disappointing Experience at InterContinental Chicago — Poor Service and Management I recently stayed at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile while attending a conference, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had, particularly from a luxury hotel carrying the InterContinental name. I booked two rooms at a total cost of approximately $8,000, expecting the level of hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail associated with a premium hotel. Unfortunately, the problems began almost immediately. Upon check-in, one of our rooms was not properly cleaned. Later that evening, the electronic key to the second room stopped working. I had to make four separate trips to the front desk before maintenance was finally contacted. Maintenance took approximately 45 minutes to arrive, and even then, the technician could not open the door. He had to leave to retrieve additional equipment to access the electronic locking mechanism, eventually disassembling it to replace the batteries. The following day, things became even worse. While I was out at dinner, my attorney arrived to collect a key to our second room, only for us to discover that the hotel had checked us out of that room without notifying us or making any attempt to confirm our reservation. When I questioned the front desk, I was confidently told that I had booked only one night and that the hotel was sold out. Rather than investigating the reservation history and acknowledging the possibility of an internal error, the initial response was dismissive. What disappointed me most, however, was the response from Diego, the manager who was supposed to help resolve the situation. Instead of beginning with a sincere apology and taking responsibility for what had happened, he offered me a complimentary breakfast. With all due respect, someone spending approximately $8,000 on two hotel rooms is not looking for a $20 breakfast. I was looking for professionalism, accountability, and basic courtesy. A simple acknowledgment — “We made a mistake, and we sincerely apologize” — would have gone a long way. I have approximately 700,000 IHG One Rewards points, reflecting my long-standing relationship with the brand. Unfortunately, this experience has made me seriously reconsider whether I want to continue staying at IHG properties. Luxury hospitality is not simply about beautiful buildings, expensive rooms, or a prestigious name. It is about how guests are treated, especially when something goes wrong. I hope InterContinental and IHG corporate leadership take this feedback seriously and address the customer service and management issues at this property. Very disappointing, and certainly not the experience I expected from InterContinental.

Awesome stay. Especially loved checking out the historical wing of this hotel, the pool, and the banquet rooms. Wish there were more old photos and stories of the history of the hotel. Room was nice. Only issues encountered were that the room temp couldn’t be cooled as much as we liked. Front desk staff was awesome, and location downtown was perfect. Would definitely return.

We had a wonderful time at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago! The entry was so welcoming and fun! The hotel has everything you will need for food and beverages. The wings at the MJ restaurant are soooo good! The room was spacious and clean. You constantly hear sirens all day and night...unavoidable & expected. We were only two blocks away from Garretts popcorn..iykyk. The city is walkable and so pretty. We were less than a mile from Millennium Park, so we were able to walk there for the jazz sessions. We will definitely be back to take in other sites. We visited during the Labor Day weekend and there were a lot of people in town (especially for the Kanye West concert). Definitely take the architectural tour...you won't be disappointed.

The bellman were incredibly Sparse I had to wait a long time to check my bag and to get my bag. I wanted to drop something in my bag and there was no bellman to help me. It is very old building. The elevator is a very slow. There was no desk in my room. Very cool. Old historical sound. Very cool and awesome location....

Rooms and service were terrible; location great. As for the room, we stayed in a king suite. The bathroom shower is terrible. They designed it so half of it is open parallel to the shower stream, no option to close it. Absolutely stupid. Gets water all over the bathroom. Toilet located parallel to that, so it’s like peeing in a public bathroom. Vanity has no storage. Fan in bathroom doesn’t work. HVAC is uncontrollable. Pillows have no support. Bed was good, bit soft. No usb ports and no convenient outlets. Room service just did not show up. Entryway is just wasted space. Overall, room very poorly designed. Only saving grace is the location, and maybe the pool. But the pool is not a kid friendly pool. They have it set up as a lap pool, and the swimmers contend with the kids, which is lame. Locker rooms and gym were just OK. Definitely not anywhere near 4.5 stars. More like 3, if they fix the room issues.
