Clean, quiet, and incredibly convenient. The rooms were no frills but very clean - a good place to rest your head after a day of exploring. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful - we had great service at the lobby restaurant for breakfast. Very convenient location 1/2 block off of Michigan Ave where you can walk or hop on a bus to anywhere. Also a very close walk to Oak Street Beach for swimming. We would stay there again!

Stayed here for 5 nights as a couple and overall really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Michigan Avenue, Water Tower Place and 360 Chicago. Lots of restaurants and a Walgreens nearby, plus a bus stop which was really handy and saved our feet a few times! 😅 Our room was large, clean and comfortable, with a great shower, good toiletries, hairdryer and iron although the rooms do need updating and a mirror at the desk would be nice. The housekeeping staff were lovely and the beds were comfy, but we could have done with a few more pillows. A couple of things to be aware of: we arrived at 1:40pm and were told our room was ready, but would have to pay $40 for early check-in as it was before 2pm. We declined and left our bags with the porter instead. There’s also a daily destination fee of around $30, although this included free water, and a $100 per night security deposit which seemed high. The deposit was returned within 2 days of getting home. The hotel itself is a lovely historic building, and the bar area was nice and always seemed busy. We also received a discount voucher towards food in the restaurant, although we never used it as there are so many great places to eat in Chicago! Overall, a really enjoyable stay in a brilliant location. We loved Chicago and would return! ❤️🇺🇸

The hotel is located in a very convenient place with a lot of things to do within walking distance. The inside and the outside of the hotel are beautiful. The room was clean and the bathroom looks freshly redone and very spacious. The only concern are the small elevators. Although the elevators are beautiful, they are very small and only fit 4 people at a time, and they aren’t the fastest. When more than 4 people get in the elevator it is very cramped and is a little nerve wracking. However, the hotel over all is worth it. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms look freshly redone. You are able to adjust the A/C in the room to your liking, and the cafe downstairs has delicious chocolate croissants.

This hotel is amazing! 4 stars because the room was pretty dated but after all it is a very old hotel! Regardless it was clean and served its purpose! Ate breakfast at nix cafe every morning and the food was consistently delicious and service was great! Also had a few drinks at the martini bar which were so good! Perfect location close to mag mile with plenty of shopping and dining nearby. Would definitely stay here again & would recommend this hotel to anyone!

It’s a PERFECT location, quick walk to the river walk trail and beaches and just as quick to downtown and all the shops. Beds were very comfortable! You don’t have to drive into the city really to get there which is nice it’s very stress free ! Bed sheet had blood stains on it when we went to get in the bed and the wash clothes had makeup stains on them.. I wouldn’t say they are too clean in that regards, shower had old shampoo/conditioner chunks of the wall from previous guest. Hallways are VERY Dingy and dark. When I called the front desk about the bed sheets and asked to have them changed they did so no problem so that was nice. House keeping staff was very nice as well. There was one woman working the front desk twice during our stay, once at check in and again the next morning - she was VERY rude to everyone it was pretty crazy.. we were standing in line to check in hoping to god we didn’t get her. Everyone else was very friendly though! Breakfast was delicious (pretty over priced though) the restaurant staff were SO friendly! It was my fiancés 30th birthday I did ask if there was anything special they offer and they never did anything or responded in that regard. I work at a hotel myself personally and know it’s a very easy and nice thing to do to offer guests small favors for special occasions. Would’ve been a nice touch. But overall the location was well worth it - we will be back!!!

First time here for a conference, it may be an old building, but the room amenities were nice. Bathtub is large enough to take a bath. I also had the room next to the elevators that had both a ceiling shower & hand-held shower spray. I only ate at their bar once, but food was spectacular. I am definitely booking here again for next year‘s conference.

I genuinely cannot understand how the Millennium Knickerbocker is being marketed at the level it is. I understand that this is an older, historic hotel, and I actually appreciate older properties when they are properly maintained, but there is a huge difference between “historic charm” and a hotel that simply feels like it has not been updated or adequately maintained in decades. The condition of my room was incredibly disappointing. The carpeting looks extremely old and worn and desperately needs to be replaced. The furniture, counters, and finishes throughout the room are visibly deteriorating, with areas that are literally coming apart. Everything feels tired, dated, and neglected rather than intentionally historic. For the price and supposed caliber of this hotel, I was honestly shocked by the condition. There are also so many smaller details that add up. The carpets throughout the property look old, the elevators feel dated, the room finishes are worn, and the overall condition simply does not match what you expect when booking a hotel in this location and at this price point. The location is fantastic, which makes the condition of the property even more frustrating because this hotel has so much potential. I rarely leave extremely negative hotel reviews, but this stay warranted one. This property needs a serious renovation, not a few cosmetic fixes. Until that happens, I would not stay here again and absolutely would not recommend it at its current price point.
