Many positives, unfortunately even more negatives. Positive: -Friendly staff with easy check in -Very central with easy parking -Historic house with amazing decor Negatives: -Some of the dirtiest bathrooms I’ve ever seen -Many showers dirty and not working/ many sinks in the shared bathroom not working -the locks on the room compartments don’t work, my key opened multiple others -the beds don’t have curtains -the WiFi doesn’t work The biggest issue for me: my bed was double booked and when I came back from dinner someone else was already sleeping in it. Since I put my pillow there already I didn’t have one for the night and had to use some other spare bed in another room (lucky that I met strangers who where willing to offer it to me). Again sleeping without a pillow. I was excited when I entered the hostel but right now my experience is ruined and I’m generally disgusted by the state of the bathrooms.

The stay at Serenata Hostel was very good. It’s a beautiful old building with traditional interior design. Anyone who isn’t overly focused on luxury and perfection will have a great time here. Located in the city center, you can reach the most beautiful sights and a shopping street within minutes. The hosts and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. It was never a problem to bring something up or make changes spontaneously. The breakfast was perfectly fine. The value for money is definitely right. I can highly recommend a stay at Serenata Hostel to everyone.

Stayed in a shared room in the hostel. The room was nice and clean. Had a spacious locker to put all my stuff. Was not very crowded at the time, if that were case the beds could use some privacy curtains. The host was very nice. Very close to the university on the hill. Need to climb a bit, but definitely worth it. Would certainly stay again!

A Nice hostel located in the city centre of Coimbra. Only some 100m away from the top of the hill on which the university campusses.and the formeel royal Palace van be Found. 'serenata' also refers to the Plaza where students gather tonhave a.drink and sing loudly to celebrate. We stayed in a.suite accomodating 4. Feels very homely and Cody. Friendly. It van be reached nu car to dropp of luggage. Underground parking (P3) af about half a km. I would certainly return there.

I had a very disappointing experience during my stay at Serenata Hostel Coimbra. I stored my bag in the hostel’s storage area during my stay, and it later went missing. I immediately informed the staff, but there did not appear to be any serious effort to assist or investigate the matter properly. I expected at least a reasonable check of the storage area, lost property areas, housekeeping, or internal follow-up, but this did not seem to happen. As the matter was serious, I also filed a police report regarding the missing bag. What made the situation worse was the way my complaint was handled afterward. After I used the official Portuguese Livro de Reclamações to report the matter in good faith, I felt intimidated when legal threats were made instead of focusing on customer service and resolving the issue. I understand that hostels cannot always prevent every incident, but guests should reasonably expect professionalism, support, and respectful treatment when belongings go missing from a designated storage area. This experience caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience during my trip. I hope Hostelworld reviews this property’s handling of guest storage security, lost property procedures, and complaint management.

Beautifully restored property with tons of charm and character and the location could not be better. I have stayed in hostels throughout Europe and this was one of the very best.

Comfortables beds, dark and super silent at night. Good showers. Young reception guy is super helpful and professional. Will come here again.

Great hostel for my family of three during our two night stay in Coimbra! The location is to die for (though if you're driving, don't Google Map to the place - you'll end up having to navigate some extremely narrow streets in the old city. Park on the edge of the city and walk in). The rooms were nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only bummer was that they didn't have breakfast or coffee available on the days we stayed - but you have about 6 choices within a 5 minutes walk, so it was no big deal.
