The best months are October and November, with warm but comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and far fewer rain days than summer. December is also pleasant and dry. From June to September, expect heavy rain and high humidity with temperatures around 29-30°C, making it hot and sticky. Avoid that stretch if you prefer drier conditions.
For first-timers, stay in Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side, close to the Avenue of Stars and Victoria Harbour, with easy access to the Star Ferry. Central and Sheung Wan suit those who want dining and nightlife; consider Motto by Hilton Hong Kong SoHo there. Causeway Bay is great for shopping and local energy, with options like Regal Hongkong Hotel. Mongkok offers lively markets and street food, near Temple Street Night Market; Eaton HK in Jordan is a nearby option.
Hong Kong Disneyland thrills families and fans of themed rides. Ocean Park combines marine life with thrill rides for a packed day. Temple Street Night Market buzzes with street food and souvenirs. Tian Tan Buddha offers a striking giant bronze statue in a tranquil setting. Ngong Ping 360 provides a scenic cable car ride over Lantau.
From Hong Kong, the full-day tours run to Macau via the HZM Bridge, where you can see the historic ruins and casinos, and to Lantau Island for the Tian Tan Buddha, Ngong Ping 360 cable car, and the Tai O fishing village. The city sightseeing tours cover Hong Kong itself, so for a day trip, Macau or Lantau are your options.
Plan 4 days: 3 for the core sights and 1 extra for a day trip. Use the first two days for Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park, then a day for Tian Tan Buddha, Ngong Ping 360, and Temple Street Night Market, plus Victoria Harbour and the Central-Mid-Levels Escalators. The fourth day covers a full-day tour to Macau or Lantau's Tai O fishing village. If you skip the day trip, 3 days is comfortable for the must-sees.
