Bezalel Hotel - an Atlas Boutique Hotel

The best time to visit Jerusalem is April through May, when days are warm and rain is rare. September and October are also pleasant, with mild temperatures and little rain. July and August are the hottest months, with highs around 33°C and no rain. Winter, from December to February, is cool and rainy, with about 7 to 10 rain days per month.

Stay in the Mamilla/King David area for easy access to the Old City and upscale hotels like the Waldorf Astoria or King David. The City Center suits first-timers with its central location and the Prima Royale nearby. East Jerusalem, around the American Colony, offers a quieter, more local feel. Choose the German Colony for a relaxed, residential vibe with the Dan Panorama close by.

Start at the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, then walk to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where tradition places Jesus' crucifixion and tomb. The Mahaneh Yehudah Market is a lively place to taste local food and see daily life. The Israel Museum holds the Dead Sea Scrolls and a vast art collection. Gethsemane's ancient olive trees and garden offer a quiet, contemplative stop. The Tower of David provides a panoramic view of the Old City and its history.

Day trips from Jerusalem include Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea, where you can see the ancient fortress, desert springs, and the salt lake. Galilee and Nazareth tours cover the Sea of Galilee and Christian holy sites. The West Bank tour visits Bethlehem and other key locations. These full-day tours return to the city in the evening.

Plan 3 to 4 days in Jerusalem. In 3 days, you can see the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Mahaneh Yehudah Market, and the Israel Museum, with time for Gethsemane and the Tower of David. Add a fourth day for a day trip to Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea, which needs an extra day beyond the city sights.
