54 on Bath is one of Johannesburg’s true gems. Perfectly positioned in the heart of Rosebank, it’s within easy walking distance of Rosebank Mall, fantastic restaurants, galleries and entertainment, yet the hotel itself feels like a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city. The property is absolutely beautiful, with an elegant five-star feel throughout. The outdoor restaurant and pool area is stunning, there’s nothing quite like watching the sunset there after a busy day. Level Four Restaurant is another highlight and well worth visiting in its own right. My room was pure class, stylish, exceptionally comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. The luxurious bathroom made for the perfect long bubble bath, and I had one of the best night’s sleeps I’ve had in ages. Waking up to a delicious breakfast the next morning was the perfect finish to a wonderful stay. I genuinely can’t wait to come back and spend more time here. Highly recommended.

The cozy elegance of this Rosebank hotel hits immediately at the entrance. Welcomed in by the staff in top hat and tails. Warm towels, infused waters and easy check in. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Dining also excellent. We enjoyed a full breakfast. The gardens are manicured and bar area fun and hip. Piano player in the lobby tops it off. Warm kind helpful and friendly staff. Travel desk arranged our driver. Highly recommend!!

This was the BEST Hotel we have stayed at and probably the best in SA! The attention to detail is impeccable. The service incomparable. The rooms are exquisite offering to your every need and treat 😊 Loved the shopping spree with direct access into Rosebank Mall. Relax at the pool & terrace or Gin bar. The food exceptional with Sous Chef Lungile, his specialized signature of blue cavier made it memorable and never to forget experience! Well Done to Nathan McMiles (GM) & his team for an unforgettable weekend. Highly Recommend for all occasions, we most certainly will be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|“People Make Places” If you’re visiting Johannesburg, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying at 54 on Bath. I stayed for around ten nights, so I feel I experienced the hotel properly. During my stay I delivered a seven-day executive programme in the conference facilities on Level 2, and for four days I barely left the building because I came down with the flu. In other words, I really tested what it’s like to live in the hotel rather than simply sleep there. The hotel’s greatest asset is, without question, its people. Every member of staff I interacted with was warm, respectful and genuinely eager to help. Their kindness makes you feel less like a guest and more like someone they are looking after personally. It is hospitality at its very best. The room—and indeed the hotel as a whole—embodied understated luxury. The building itself adds warmth, charm and character. Everything worked exactly as it should, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, the linen immaculate, and every evening the thoughtful turndown service included little touches that made returning to the room a pleasure. My room overlooked the pool and enjoyed uninterrupted afternoon sunshine, beautiful sunsets and peaceful evening views. The bathroom deserves a special mention too. The shower pressure and temperature were among the best I have experienced anywhere in the world, and after long teaching days—and particularly while recovering from flu—the hot baths and showers were exactly what I needed. The location is outstanding. Being connected directly to Rosebank Mall while also feeling secure and private is a huge advantage. There are excellent restaurants within a minute’s walk, and throughout my stay the staff were proactive in offering sensible local safety advice, which I genuinely appreciated as an international visitor. Breakfast was consistently excellent. In fact, I’d almost recommend not reading too much about it beforehand and simply enjoying the surprise each morning. I also relied on room service extensively while I was unwell. It was consistently quick, beautifully presented and of a quality that exceeded my expectations. The restaurant deserves special praise. The menu is imaginative without trying too hard, and my final three-course dinner was genuinely memorable. The oxtail dumplings and the pork belly delighted and surprised my senses in equal measure, while the famous tomahawk steak became something of a running joke during my stay! The swimming pool area is another hidden gem. Even in winter it is a wonderful place to sit in the sun, and we even managed to host an impromptu drinks reception for more than fifty delegates, which the team handled with great professionalism and adaptability. The complimentary pressing service for three items per day was another thoughtful feature that proved genuinely useful during a long business stay. If I were to suggest improvements, they would be relatively minor. The television system could benefit from a technology refresh, and the event facilities could probably be modernised to better reflect the exceptional standard evident throughout the rest of the hotel. None of these, however, changed my overall impression. This hotel delivers exceptional value for money because of one simple reason: People make places. General Manager Grant and his team have created an environment that feels welcoming, calm and genuinely caring. I left Johannesburg with wonderful memories, and much of that is thanks to the people at 54 on Bath. When a hotel starts feeling like home after only a few days, you know they’re doing something special. I certainly hope to be back soon.

The whole hotel setting was beautiful and it was definitely the best breakfast experience that I can ever remember having. One of the managers walked to the ATM to get cash which I really appreciated. I did have one issue with no one showing up at the airport to transfer me. They explained that because I had changed the date of my rival. I did not communicate with the right person.. So make sure if you ask for a transfer that you get to the person who’s going to guarantee they pick you up.

I stayed at 54 on Bath in Rosebank for three nights on a business trip and, while there were some positives, the overall experience was disappointing for a hotel positioned as five-star. The check-in staff were friendly and welcoming, and some of the service during my stay was good. The pastries at breakfast were also very nice, and the Sunday breakfast option with steak and hash browns was much better than the cooked English breakfast I had on Saturday. Unfortunately, the executive room itself did not meet the standard I would expect from a five-star hotel. The room felt outdated, with older TVs and very poor reception. When I ran the bath, the water initially came out brown, which was very off-putting. There were stains on the bathroom vanity, and the toilet did not flush properly. The welcome shortbread had also clearly been opened or emptied but was placed back on the plate to look untouched, which was not a great first impression. Another odd detail was that there was a Bill Cosby book in the room. Given his very public history and controversy, it felt like a poor choice for guest reading material in a hotel of this standard. Breakfast was inconsistent. Saturday’s cooked English breakfast was poor, although the pastries and service were good. On Sunday, the food was better, but the service dropped badly. I was left sitting for around 15 minutes before anyone even offered coffee, and the staff seemed loud and inattentive. After those experiences, I did not bother with breakfast on Monday. Overall, the staff were generally friendly, especially at check-in, but the hotel itself feels like it needs updating and better attention to detail. For a five-star property, the room condition, bathroom issues, breakfast inconsistency and service gaps were not good enough.

At the end of an exhausting safari I stayed at 54 on Bath in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Such a luxurious experience. Rooms were well appointed. Linen was divine and food and service exceptional. I would throughly recommend this hotel.

We came to have a high Tea experience. Omar who is the restaurant manager came to have a chat with us and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed what was on offer in terms of this high tea experience. We also enjoyed two types of tea. Their high tea is available for two hours so we chose the 14:30 to 16:30 slot.
