We stayed here after a long travel day - to rest and prepare for our upcoming safari trip. The upgraded room was really unique…the bed was very comfortable. We even had a little view outside into a courtyard area with trees. The drinks were yummy and the area felt very safe, walkable, and upscale. Great shopping and restaurant experiences all around. But the real reason I wanted to leave a review was to thank the staff for such incredible service and attentiveness. I had an unfortunate medical emergency just before I was supposed to get on another flight. We had to miss the flight. But because of this hotel staff, we did not miss a single moment of our once-in-a-lifetime African safari trip. This hotel staff treated our 911 needs with such incredible immediacy and high-functioning communications, I was literally blown away. I cried out of sheer gratitude for how they handled everything for us with such urgency and care. Unbelievable.

Hotel decor is tastefully reflective of the African culture. Excellent cuisine. Yet what really stands out is the thorough attentive treatment from staff. They truly go above and beyond in caring for guests. Manager Shepherd's attentiveness was superb!

A Hotel That Truly Lives Up to Its Name — African Pride Although we are currently staying at another Marriott property, it has honestly made me realize just how much we appreciate the African Pride Melrose Arch. We have stayed here for the past four years while traveling to Johannesburg on our mission trips, and this hotel has become so much more than just a place to stay—it feels like family. The word “Pride” isn’t just part of the name. You can see that the staff truly takes pride in the hotel, its appearance, its history, and, most importantly, the people who walk through its doors. From the moment you enter the lobby, you feel welcomed. The staff greets you as if they know you personally. There is a genuine warmth and hospitality that is difficult to put a price on. They remember us, understand our mission, and have always supported the purpose behind our trips. That means so much to us. And it’s not just because we come as a mission group. I believe they would make you feel that same sense of belonging whether you’re visiting for business, vacation, or simply spending a few nights in Johannesburg. The attention to detail is evident throughout the hotel—from the beautiful surroundings to the food and the way everything is presented. But what truly sets African Pride apart is the customer service. This trip has reminded me of something very important: you cannot put a price on customer service. You may find a less expensive hotel, or even another hotel within the same brand, but the experience you receive is what stays with you.|At African Pride, you don’t just feel like a guest. From the moment I walked in I was amazed and treated with world class service, greeting, help with luggage, platinum status recognition, complimentary wine and gifts and a hand written personalized not by the guest relations manager! Every single aspect of this stay was amazing. I received an upgrade due to my status but all of the rooms are amazing and beautiful. I was even offered a shuttle service for a fee to all of my destinations. The food was 10/10, the place was clean, immaculate attention to detail, so good, I was compelled to tip the cleaning staff each day as they got down on their hands and knees to check areas and clean everything. I was blown away. However above all was the service received by Atlehang Mofokeng, this gentleman walked me through two room types and explained detail and history of the hotel, the art and the secret areas/compartments within each upgraded room (typically not advertised). He gave me local advice of the surrounding areas and was very attentive to each need throughout the stay. The deputy manager Zinny Mangcotywa runs an extremely tight ship and is a master of her craft at the hotel. She anticipated needs large and small when I had guests visiting the hotel and even helped me to arrange a dinner after hours at one of their signature restaurants at the property. The leadership team at both of the high end restaurants are top notch. Zinny should be promoted and moved to the corner office! If anyone reading this has doubts about staying here. DONT have them, and BOOK IT!. On this trip I also stayed at the Marriott (top notch) and the Protea Fire and Ice, both Amazing choices. Here in Melrose Arc however, the winner is African Pride!

African Pride exceeded all of our expectations. Our itinerary only owned for a one night stay. We were warmly greeted every time we walked through the lobby. All the staff were professional, kind, polite, and attentive. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Aduna. You must try the Tea Garden cocktail! In a stroke of luck, our stay was during Heritage Day and we enjoyed watching the staff perform beautiful songs in their traditional outfits. Their joined voices were so beautiful and it’s an experience we will never forget. We will absolutely recommend our friends and family to stay here. Thank you African Pride for a (short) extraordinary stay. - The Richardsons

So… as you would expect the hotel is superb. But most of all, the all team is very nice. Special shoutout to Prince at the restaurant, and to the hotel manager (did not catch her name), both exceptional hosts.

This is truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. My visit was my very first time in Johannesburg and it definitely will not be my last. From the moment you step into the entrance of African Pride, you are treated like family. The staff, especially Sherpard & Peter, are extremely accommodating, helpful, and genuinely great people. The rooms are exceptional, clean, and very spacious — bonus points from me since I love taking a nice hot bath & this is one of the few reasonably priced hotels that actually has them! The gym is also well attended to & has the basics of what you need to get some daily movement in. The two restaurants on site (Aduna & Sebule) are also top notch with a wide variety of food options depending on your dietary restrictions. All waiters and hosts are exceptional. Lastly, the location is outstanding — a lot of restaurants, shops, businesses in the area and only a 15-30min drive to a lot of the popular attractions, museums, and excursions. I 100000/10 recommend this hotel — truly one of a kind and well worth the price.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent. Safe area to walk around with a lot of shops and restaurants. I’d highly recommend staying here.
