I came here for a business trip and I have to say that it was below my expectations. From the photos taken from the management, everything looks clean and beautiful, however, when I arrived, the rooms were dirty, especially the floor, curtains, bathtubs and shower. The bed was uncomfortable and once I opened the blankets, I found particles of dirt. I was shocked at the condition of the room. Not that all was bad, the room is of good size and the staff were friendly, however, I expected more from this stay. At night, I could constantly hear noise which disrupted my sleep and also, my sink was clogged and the aircon stopped working on day 2 of my stay. I'm not 100% that I could recommend this place, but possibly, my room was the only one with the above conditions. However, it does have the potential to be a really beautiful place. I found other spaces quite nice and I'll include both the food and the bad photos.

Great location, big room, and everything was clean, but there was no hot water at all, which made it difficult to take a shower. The hotel also does not provide complimentary toiletries or a hospitality tray.

Looks nothing like the pictures — extremely disappointing experience We stayed at Garden Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg and were shocked by the reality compared to the photos. The room had no towels, no water, and absolutely no food options or staff help beyond breakfast hours (which were unclear and limited). The bathroom had broken tiles and an unsanitary carpet, and the furniture looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. We felt stranded without access to food, drinking water, or assistance — not ideal for any traveler, let alone two women arriving for medical reasons. The hotel is not what is promised online, and we left feeling cheated and deeply disappointed. Would not recommend. This place needs serious attention before it can be called a boutique hotel.

The hotel falls short of the standards expected for a 3.7-star rating. The curtains were dirty, the cupboards were dusty, and there were no extra towels or toilet paper. While the staff was pleasant, they need to improve their overall service.

So let's start with the better part of this Hotel, the location is very secure and safe 24/7 security and the whole neighbourhood is also enclosed with security. The service was good and the breakfast is good. The waiters and chef is very nice. Now on to the bad part that needs improving, the rooms are dirty, the floors are dirty, ants crawl out of small spaces the bedroom lamps aren't working the blind are broken the door is damaged, the kettles handle is of exposing electrical wires, the aircon is busted, the TV remote is missing, wasn't enough towels or toilet paper. These are small basic things that can be improved.

The hotel is located in a secluded area, no shops anywhere close. The hotel must have been great in the past, now due to poor systems and structures is deteriorating. Handel's loose, drawers dislodging, battery missing out my remote. There is talk of an honesty bar, nothing of the sort. Would I stay here again? If my company booked me here, guess so. At least I know what to expect now. Message to the owner: Up your basic maintenance & hygiene and you will improve your guests stay alot.

If I were you, I wouldn't book accommodation with them. They might have been good a few years ago, but I believe no one should ever stay in the current conditions of the rooms or eat where breakfast is served. They are in violation of the Consumer Protection Act 71 (Sections 29 and 41). They are definitely not a 4-star hotel. The rooms are dirty, the kitchen where food is prepared is filthy, and the bathrooms are awful.

My Wife and I stayed here on the weekend of the 28th- 29th September. Our friends recommend this place having stayed here 5-6 years ago, however with new owners this place is now shocking. The list concerns just grew longer by the hour when we were there. To name a few: -Room floors were not cleaned, could see slippage marks on the tiles. -Toilet rolls not replaced, left with enough to blow half a nose. -Not enough towels, and to find one towel had a tear in it. -Sheet on the bed had a tear in it. -Duvet inner was too big for the duvet cover, so it is just tucked in under the mattress. -Shower was not cleaned properly, and neighboring room friends shower has tiles missing, that actually was cutting their feet. -We were left outside the front gate for 15minutes as they use a cell to gate system, when we eventually got inside, they said they had to load airtime so they could open the gate. Gaining access should not be happening even with a 1 Star hotel. -We paid for Breakfast for both mornings, but we couldn't risk being even more disappointed, so we did not even eat there. -Other guests had a party in the night, which we had to contact reception desk to have music and loud noises way past 24h00. -The outside fire pits were used as dirt bins of booze bottles and chicken boxes, which were still there on Sunday morning from Friday nights noise pollutants party. I could go on, but my keyboard might break, but I think the new owner needs to take a serious look at how this place is being run into the ground. The only pro of the place is that it is well located to areas we needed to be, which is irrelevant when there are many other places around that I am sure will make you want to come back. The Gardenia is now it is just a dirty mismanaged shell of a Boutique Hotel. #ifitwasfree #istillwouldntstayhere
