Location was amazing. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, especially the beds! Hotel was quiet and peaceful. Spent some time in the heated indoor pool which was lovely! The service was fantastic. All of the staff at reception were kind and extremely helpful especially Ronald, Owami and Mantuli!! Also the breakfast waiters at Nova Bistro were a fantastic team specifically Thabo and Lovett both of whom were extremely welcoming.

This was a tricky review to write. Service in the restaurant, porters, concierge, poolside was excellent. Good quality breakfast. Spa also excellent. The premises are excellent but for someone used to staying in Rosebank or Melrose, here you have to drive everywhere vs. have shops and restaurants on your doorstep. Moreover, when I needed help from the front desk, it wasn’t there. After an expensive 5 night stay, I requested a 2 hour extension on checkout time and they insisted this was only possible if paid! This came from both staff and supervisor. Requests to the front desk WhatsApp were not responded to. Significant overcharge in final bill which was charged to the holding card before approved so in the end it took 25 mins to check out. And multiple letters and bills slipped under the door during my stay highlighting the balance! It’s like the key focus is money, not service, which really lets down the hardworking teams elsewhere in the hotel - and I didn’t feel very valued.

This beautiful hotel complex was a pleasure to stay at. It is so well kept, from the immaculate spa (where every footprint is cleaned away within minutes) to the well tended gardens (which attract plentiful birdlife). There are serene spots to rest, and first class friendly employees everywhere. Our suite was peaceful and quiet, we didn't even hear our neighbour's TV or door shutting. We had a useful washing machine in our kitchen, with drier. There is a pillow menu, and bath-robes and slippers. The lunch/dinner menu is varied and everything is freshly cooked. Portions are generous. If you order the warm brownie, it is certainly big enough for two to share. I loved this place.

Really awesome Hotel and conference facilities. Service is great from the Security, all the way to the entrance, front desk and catering staff. I must say the Security were so friendly and helpful, showing me where to park then escorting me to the reception. The hotel is really plush and luxurious. The food was amazing - from the pastries/snack food to the full lunch. Conference facilities were great. In fact there was no glitch at all during the entire conference. Great venue overall

Attended a congress at the hotel where I stayed at too. Overall a fantastic experience. The check in was swift, staff well trained, the room was spacious, very clean, with a bath and shower, tea/coffee available, bedding was clean and there was almost no noise at night which ensured an excellent sleep. There was hot water, shower gels, etc. Aircon worked well. There is a spa attached to the hotel which I found excellent. The gym is a decent size, with all the needed gym equipment, opens at 5.30am weekdays and 7am weekends. There is a beautiful huge pool. The breakfast spread was adequate - range of fruits, confectionary, hot meals. The congress facilities were excellent, good audio-visual team, sufficient bathrooms, good food.

I had a wonderful experience at Houghton Hotel. The food was excellent, with every meal beautifully prepared and delicious. The service was outstanding, and the staff were professional, friendly. The hotel itself is well-maintained, clean and neat creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the hotel. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so enjoyable. I would highly recommend Houghton Hotel and look forward to visiting again.

First time at this large modern hotel with very spacious rooms and great amenities. Large bathroom, comfortable king size bed and automatic blinds enable a relaxing and restful stay. Every member of the team we met give professional, but very friendly personal service that stood out as exceptional.|When we had something that needed help fixing, Jake, the hotel manager went out of his way to get resolved for us. Likewise, the great service we received from Brian who done our transfers. As Johannesburg is a frequent overnight stay for us, the Houghton has now positioned itself as our default stay and we look forward to returning.
