The best time is December to April, when rain is scarce and the sea is calm. January and February are especially pleasant, with warm days and cooling breezes. October and November bring the heaviest rain, while July to September are hot and humid with frequent showers. For guaranteed sunshine, plan between February and April.

Chaweng suits first-timers: it has the longest beach, most dining and nightlife, and hotels like Baan Haad Ngam.
