Perfect Location for Shopping and Exploring. A very convenient hotel in the heart of Kyoto, especially for those who enjoy shopping. The location is excellent, although the rooms are understandably on the smaller side given the busy central setting. The staff were attentive and efficient, though perhaps a little reserved. Breakfast was fairly moderate, served in an Italian restaurant in the basement. Overall, a practical choice for its excellent location, particularly for shoppers.

Outstanding service and wonderful staff! I stayed here from September 14th to 17th. I am writing this to express my deepest gratitude to the staff. They completely managed, did the paperwork, and coordinated the delivery of some personal belongings I had accidentally forgotten at my previous hotel in Takayama. Thanks to their incredible efficiency and kindness, I received the package perfectly in hand during my stay. Their exceptional helpfulness and top-tier service went above and beyond. Highly recommended!

It was really good to stay at Resol, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the location was excellent- right in the middle of the high street- but the hotel itself served as a sanctuary and can I add, the scent when you walked in was heavenly- I even bought their signature essential oil. The hotel offers experiences for their guests, I watched a Maiko dance and practiced calligraphy with a calligraphy master. The rooms were just right - they provide pyjamas, slippers, and all the things you need, like a phone charger- that was super helpful and convenient for travelers who might need converters. Breakfast was just OK, what was on offer and the selection could be significantly improved to match the standard of the hotel. Also, they provide a laundromat for anyone who wishes to wash their clothes, which Is great, the only downside is that there was a lot of dust everywhere from the dryer- so this made it hard to use it. Nevertheless a great experience.

Great location! Rooms were quiet and beds were comfy. Very small, which is to be expected. Shower was hot. They gave us fresh towels and new waters daily (without having to request) which was nice.

Very very dark in room. No view from window. No light coming in as opposite window is another building. Felt like a backpackers hostel, which I didn’t like. Can’t fault the cleanliness, however things are old. In saying that, we did not use the towels due to a bad damp smell -so I guess that’s a fault! Bed not the most comfortable, pillows very hard. One made of straw? Didn’t sleep very well. Lots of noise from street, loud music playing at 5am. Laundry room useful, but very dirty. Seems a place for 20-somethings backpacking on a budget. Another thing is they don’t clean the rooms, I didn’t really understand their policy on this, but they just refused to clean. I asked if they can change the rubbish bin and they just said to leave it outside. So things like teacups will be uncleaned/unchanged for days. I was told you can request to have the room cleaned but as I said, they refused. They do give you clean towels and comp water daily in a tote bag which is left outside the room. One member of staff was very nice, I told her about the room cleaning and she apologised. Staff very friendly and polite. Location is right in main shopping area on a main road.

They have this lovely lemongrass/ginger aroma greeting you as soon as you walk in. Staff at the hotel are lovely and they helped us with navigation of Kyoto as we were complete novice. For a hotel that’s just a minute or two away from Nishi market and in the heart of Kyoto night life, it is quiet and relaxing. The room was clean and the design was elegant with shoji like sliders which filter the daylight coming from the windows. It almost had a feel of a ryokan. We reached the hotel on a drizzly Thursday afternoon and were fairly peeved off as we didn’t get a glimpse of Mount Fuji due to the weather on our way to Kyoto. But to our delight there was a Maiko performance that evening which instantly lifted our spirits. For others who want to stay at this hotel make sure you don’t miss out on the Maiko performance (free to hotel guests), it feels quite intimate and you do get photo op afterwards with her. You can just spend a day or two going around the Hotel’s location. There’s a lovely little stream just behind which again makes you forget that you are in a bustling city. There are plenty of eateries for all sorts of budgets scattered all around. This hotel is definitely on my list for good. It’s ideal for couples, family and lone travellers. Look no further, your perfect Kyoto stay starts here.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi Sanjo. The location is unbeatable—perfectly situated near major shopping areas and very convenient for public transport. The hotel itself has a wonderful, serene atmosphere; I loved the beautiful décor, especially the tasteful use of greenery and bonsai trees throughout the property. The common area is a highlight, offering a cozy space to relax with a coffee, and it’s very convenient to have charging ports available. The staff were also incredibly helpful and welcoming. The room size and price point felt very reasonable for the quality provided. However, there is room for improvement regarding cleanliness. I noticed a significant amount of dust in the corners and crevices of the room, and the air purifier could definitely use a deep cleaning. With better attention to detail in room maintenance, this would be a perfect stay.

Had the best stay here, disappointed that we only stayed here one night because it has been the best accommodation that we booked for the entire trip. As soon as you walk into the lobby area it smells of lemongrass. Staff were super friendly and organised. They allowed us to leave our bags at reception before check In and afterwards which was super helpful. Beds were comfortable rooms were a decent size aswell. Would definitely recommend for your next stay in Kyoto
