Belmar Spa & Beach Resort

The best time is late spring, May and June, when days are warm (24-27°C) with little rain and humidity drops. July and August are dry and hot, peaking at 30°C, ideal for beach time but less comfortable for sightseeing. March is the wettest month with 12 rainy days, so avoid it. Autumn stays pleasant through October, but November and December bring more rain and higher humidity.

Stay in the center for easy access to the marina, restaurants, and beaches like Praia da Batata; the Lagos Avenida Hotel and The Editory by the Sea Lagos are here. Porto de Mós suits a quieter seaside stay with direct beach access, where Belmar Spa & Beach Resort is located. For a coastal cliff setting near the famous rock formations, Praia Dona Ana area offers Villa Doris Suites. The outskirts near Luz provide a relaxed, village-like alternative with hotels like Belver Porto Dona Maria.

Ponta da Piedade offers dramatic cliffs and sea views. Praia Dona Ana is a classic beach with golden sand and rock formations. Zoo de Lagos is a family-friendly spot with local and exotic animals. Castle of Lagos provides a glimpse into the town's history. Praia da Batata is a small, convenient beach near the center.

Full-day tours from Lagos head to the Algarve's highlights, including the dramatic cliffs and sea caves of Ponta da Piedade, the historic town of Sagres with its fortress, and the scenic beaches of the western coast. Some tours also visit the charming village of Alvor or the Ria Formosa Natural Park. If you prefer to explore on your own, a day trip to the nearby town of Silves, with its Moorish castle, is a well-known option.

Plan 3 days in Lagos: one for Ponta da Piedade and the cliffs, one for Praia Dona Ana and Praia da Batata, and one for the Castle of Lagos and Mercado de Escravos. If you want a day trip, add an extra day. Two days works if you skip the museums and just focus on beaches and viewpoints.
