We stayed at Santiago de Alfama for our honeymoon and it was, without exaggeration, one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. The hotel itself is stunning — a beautifully restored building tucked into the heart of Alfama, steps from everything, with gorgeous rooms and so much charm. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the people. Dylan, the head manager/concierge, deserves special recognition. He completely made our experience. His service, kindness, and all-around great energy elevated every single day of our stay — recommendations, arrangements, little touches we didn't even ask for. You can tell Dylan pours his heart into this hotel and into every guest's experience, and it was genuinely felt. Our honeymoon in Lisbon would not have been the same without him. At Audrey's, the hotel restaurant, Bruno the mixologist is an absolute master of his craft — every cocktail was incredible, and he's just a genuinely cool guy to talk to at the bar. Manny, who heads the restaurant, was equally fantastic: warm, welcoming, and his wine recommendations were spot-on every time. Beautiful hotel, perfect location, but it's the team that makes Santiago de Alfama truly special. We can't wait to come back. 10/10.

Possibly my favorite stay ever! The property is stunning and everything was so clean. Our room was fabulous and spacious. But it was the staff that really made this place unforgettable. Dylan in reception seemed genuinely excited to welcome us and provided us with several recommendations that were amazing. The breakfast is unmatched. Such a wide selection and everything delicious. Lucas makes a mean (and artful!) cappuccino. We had dinner at Audrey’s one night and had pre-dinner drinks another, both of which were highlights of our time in Lisbon. The cocktail list is insane (truffle martini!!) and it’s obvious that Bruno takes a lot pride in providing an excellent experience. Just wish we had time to check out the beauty bar. We will have to go back!

Staying at this hotel was truly such an amazing and memorable experience. The location is incredible, walkable to the castle and lots of restaurants and viewpoints. Guilherme welcomed us so warmly and immediately made us feel at home, offering recommendations for things to do in the area and telling us about the hotel. When we saw him throughout our stay around the hotel, he always made time to stop and chat with us. The rooms are luxurious without losing any of the charm of being in a historic building. We had a drink at the hotel bar and ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and the service outstanding. It's so rare to find a place that has it all - atmosphere, great food, beautiful rooms - and still maintains a level of service that makes it feel so cozy and warm. I will definitely be back here!

Santiago de Alfama is a slice of heaven. We stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon and had the most peaceful, relaxing, wonderful stay. The staff were all very welcoming and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and dessert with a congratulatory note. Concierge helped us book tours and gave great recommendations. The breakfast is DELICIOUS and the bar downstairs is truly impressive with its range of cocktails. Will definitely be recommending this to family and friends! Thank you.

Beautiful stay, we loved our time it’s a peaceful retreat from a very busy city. The staff were lovely, we loved dining at Audrey’s breakfast, lunch & dinner were great really nice menu. Very thankful for staff organising a doctor to come to hotel as my husband got bad flu doctor was great & we were able to get done tablets to ensure he was well enough to fly home. My only feedback is due to historical location your at top of a very steep decline to get back to town we caught Ubers as my husbands knee isn’t great that was easy enough & not super costly.

Can't say enough good things about the service level. Everyone we met was thoughtful and a great host. Charming building renovated to high spec. The attached restaurant is a fantastic option to have at your doorstep and surprisingly good value. Nit-picking: our room layout was strange, as we had a tub placed outside of the sizable bathroom, and we had full-length windows on a bedroom facing a shared square. Neither of these were problems (the windows came with blackout curtains) but I'm trying to find aspects of the stay to critique. Would stay again.

Our visit to this lovely boutique hotel was perfecto! It started with the planning process, working with Guilherme, he was so helpful in the booking process as well as helping to plan our visit while in Lisbon. We were celebrating milestone birthdays and really wanted the stay to be special. Guillermo helped us to choose the best room available. It was pristine, private, comfortable and had the most gorgeous view. It was stunning! Guilherme's guidance and suggestions were right on. He helped us arrange an afternoon sail on the river and a very entertaining Tuk tuk tour, these plans worked out perfectly. Honestly the details of his ideas for how to enjoy Lisbon were endless and we enjoy all our adventures, big and small. His warmth and kindness was evident via emails before getting to Lisbon but to meet him in person was great, like a long lost family member. His enthusiasm, joy and warmth of his smile while sharing ideas was so genuine. And the boutique hotel itself is such a haven. Welcoming foyer, great dining spaces. We enjoyed live music and a snack outside on the terrace. The staff was so helpful with wine selection and food accommodations. The breakfast was amazing, definitely a highlight. We would highly recommend the Santiago de Alfama.

For food right at the hotel, the on-site Audrey's Café, Bistro & Bar serves everything from breakfast to dinner, and Manny's Bar is there for drinks. A short stroll leads to Manteigaria (5 min walk) for pastéis de nata and Pastelaria Santo António (3 min walk) for another sweet stop. The hotel's own kitchen and these nearby cafés cover your meals, with the surrounding Alfama streets offering more local spots as you wander.

What is the area around Santiago de Alfama - Boutique Hotel like?

You are in Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter, where narrow cobbled streets and fado music set the tone. The hotel sits right below Castelo de São Jorge (4 min walk) and above Miradouro de Santa Luzia (1 min walk), with both views and history on your doorstep. The riverfront opens up quickly: Rua Augusta Arch is 7 min away and Praça do Comércio 8 min, so you can wander from medieval lanes to the grand square in minutes. The area is calm and local, yet the city center is just a short stroll further. Around 800 m you have the Rossio and Terreiro do Paço metro stations, making the rest of Lisbon easy to reach. It is a peaceful base with everything classic about Lisbon within a ten-minute walk.

From Humberto Delgado Airport, about 6 km away, a taxi or ride-hailing service will bring you directly to the hotel. For a more scenic option, take the Aerobus to Praça da Figueira and then bus 737 to Largo do Contador Mor, a short walk from the hotel. From Santa Apolónia railway station, the hotel is a short taxi or ride-hailing trip, or you can walk about 15 minutes. The nearest metro stations are Rossio and Terreiro do Paço, roughly 850 m away, from which tram 28 stops near Miradouro de Santa Luzia, just steps from the hotel.

Further viewpoints like Our Lady of the Mount (11 minutes) and Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara (15 minutes) are also walkable. The historic Alfama streets around the hotel stay lively after dark with fado music drifting from local houses, though the hotel can point you to nearby spots.
