To start with the pros, I got incredible sleep in this room because it was pitch black and silent. It was a pretty convenient location, with many things within walking distance and about a block away from an underground station. The biggest downside was how small the room was. There wasn’t enough space for 2 people to both have their suitcases open on the floor at the same time and still be able to stand. The bathroom had no surfaces to set anything down. The shower had only a half door and the whole room would get wet when it was used. Then, because of a lack of ventilation, the room would be hot and sweaty and musty. My makeup was coming off in patches as I applied it because of how humid it was in there. There was AC that seemed to work a little bit but not much so I cannot imagine staying here in the summer (I stayed in fall). The “door” to the bathroom was also a frosted glass sliding door so you could see and hear everything going on in there so I wouldn’t stay here with someone you’re not extremely comfortable with. I saw families staying in rooms and have no idea how they did that. This place was more affordable than many hotels in the area but I also saw cheaper so I don’t think it was worth the price.

I opted for this place for the location, price and it being a bit unique. The was a slight hum from the underground but it’s not loud and it’s the only noise I heard really. The reception/lounge area was nice, good selection of hot drinks and really friendly staff I would not hesitate to stay here again - I loved that it was pitch black when you turn the lights off, not even a sliver of light under the door. The only thing we found weird was the plumbing noises - you turn the tap on and it was noisy and when it turns off it runs in the pipes with a high pitched noise for a minute or two which was weird but in the end we just found it funny

Was pleasantly surprised with the facilities as it was only meant to be a one night stay and exceeded expectations for a capsule cocoon room. Moreover, although not having some amenities like a hairdryer this is to be expected when paying a decent price for central London, shower and bedding was clean overall a great nights sleep!Only slight caviat is noise coming from the tube station as it is an underground hotel however definitely bearable. Would recommend.

The location of the hotel is amazing, you are in the heart of London and you can sleep pretty well if you can separate yourself from the noises of the passing underground and the sewerage system of the hotel. The privacy of the bathroom is also very bad the glass doors you can see have visual isolation but there is no sound isolation and you hear everything. Talking about the rooms there aren't tables inside the room so if you want to eat your meals you need to go to the lobby where there are several tables. Let's talk a bit for the service. The employees are trying to help with everything they can and are very friendly. BUT the cleaning service is terrible you can see how the bathrooms look after I requested a cleaning. And don't go with the idea that this can't be cleaned I tried with just a wet towel and it was working. When I asked on the reception why the cleaning is so bad because I heard one lady complaining about that, they told that they clean the rooms after 4 days of staying in one. Also you need to go get yourself a new towels by yourself and leave the dirty ones outside your room. If you have breakfast included there is a restaurant next to the hotel and they give you a set menu with a couple of options from which you can chose. There are many variations but you can only order one per visit (that is included in your breakfast of course if you want to have more you can order but you need to pay for it), but the food was tasty so it wasn't that bad.

Had a lovely stay - it was perfect for a single traveler who just needed some cool and quiet. Stayed during the heatwave but thanks to the underground setting and the air-con I was able to take the afternoons off and relax. The rooms are very simple, just a bed and a bathroom, but the bed was big and very comfortable (I booked a king bed for myself, which wasn't much more expensive than the double.) Just a few small details for people visiting or for management to follow up on; (1) the shower is fairly open to the rest of the bathroom, so either water gets everywhere or the bathmat gets soaked and (2) linen changes only happen after 4 days, so if you're staying that long make sure you're taking care of your sheets. Other than that, I adored this place. The concept isn't for everyone, but as someone who prioritizes relaxation when I travel it met all of my needs. Will definitely book again next time I'm in London.

DO NOT STAY HERE: Uninhabitable Rooms & Raw Sewage Stench This was a nightmare experience at Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road. • Severe Sewage Odour: The windowless underground room smelled like raw sewage, feces, and urine. They attempted to mask it with cheap air freshener, but by 2 AM, the stench of human waste was so overwhelming we couldn't sleep. Looking at other reviews, this is clearly a persistent, known issue they refuse to fix. • Broken AC & "Oven" Heat: The air conditioning failed, turning our sealed, windowless room into an oven. When reported, reception blamed us first, then sent a staff member with just a portable fan for a windowless room—completely useless. • Untrained, Dishonest Staff: The staff member immediately claimed the hotel was fully booked without checking, then backtracked when questioned. They clearly have scripted excuses for these known room defects. • Hygiene Issues: The room was dusty, the bathroom had visible dirt/grime, and the shower failed to drain properly, leaving standing dirty water all over the floor. Selling unventilated, windowless rooms filled with sewage fumes is unacceptable and a health hazard. We are reporting these conditions to London local authorities/environmental health. We demand a full refund for the entire booking. Save your money and health—avoid this property!

I'd definitely stay here again. Amazing location, and good price for the area. The room was basic, but all I needed. On check in the computer didn't want to work for me, but somebody was on hand to help. I would have liked to have got the aircon to be a little bit cooler, but it was perfectly comfortable. Great nights sleep both nights I was there

Very small rooms with nowhere to put anything. They’re not rooms really, they’re spaces. Larger than pods, but very compact. Their marketing people call them “cocoons.” Ha. I had an accessible “cocoon” so it had more space than my friends’ cocoon, a larger bathroom, and a bed at normal height. The regular cocoons have mattresses on low platforms and absolutely no space to even put your bag. Or, you can put your bag on the floor but then you can’t walk the two steps to the bathroom without tripping over it. There are two knobs on the wall where you can hang an item or two of clothing. And that’s it. You have to balance other things on top of the wainscoting and hope they don’t fall down between the wainscoting and the mattress onto the floor like my wallet did. That was a scary ten minutes… Also, this is like the Ryan Air of hotels. They charge you for every little thing. Their marketing people, again, write, “You want to check in early or check out late? No problem at all.” But what they don’t mention is that they’ll charge you £40 to check in an hour early or check out an hour late. Or to leave your luggage for two hours after your 10 am checkout. 10 am!!! And whatever you do don’t use the vending machine in the lobby. The lobby smells funny, and the corridors too, but in a different way. Pluses: the rooms were scrupulously clean and it’s very convenient to the West End, Oxford Street, and Bloomsbury. Price was much cheaper than actual hotels in the area. I definitely would not stay here again but if you really need something in that location that’s not expensive, and you don’t mind sleeping four floors below ground with Underground trains rumbling overhead all night, go have fun.
