We were traveling Nova Scotia for our 50th wedding anniversary and booked two nights at Smuggler's Cove Inn in historic Lunnenburg. What a beautiful, colorful old town! It was worth spending two days exploring. We felt warmly welcome by Michael and Kim upon our arrival. They were helpful with parking and any information we required for our stay. On the second day Michael offered to give a a tour of the town. He is extremely knowledgeable about Lunnenburg's history and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only did Michael give us the grand tour, he also took some photos of us to commemorate our anniversary and stay. He certainly made our time in Lunneburg memorable. I appreciated Michael and Kim's warm, engaging personalities and our time exploring this beautiful historic town. Smuggler's Cove is right in the old town, easy walking distance to restaurants and points of interest. We will certainly stay again when we come back to Lunnenburg,

This is the perfect place to stay in Lunenberg! The hosts/staff are friendly and helpful—even walking us to an available FREE parking space! Rooms are surprisingly large and very comfortable. It’s also a welcome bonus to have an elevator in an inn like this. And the location is perfect—everything is easily walkable. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Lunenberg.

Lovely place to stay. Centrally located. You can park and walk everywhere. Bed was really comfy. Towels were soft and fluffy. But the real star was Michael and his wife Rita, the owners. His service was above and beyond. Extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Inn and town. Friendly and so helpful.

Our visit to Lunenburg was always going to be great…..but our stay at Smugglers Inn was absolutely the best choice we could have made. Michael and Rita were wonderful hosts. We got personal tours around the waterfront from Michael, including taking wonderful photos for us which we’ll cherish. Service at the hotel made us feel right at home. Michael and Rita are fully immersed in their community and love to show all of it off to visitors. Such a wonderful personal experience for us. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

The location is terrific; everything in town is easily walkable! Rooms are smaller but very clean and have all the amenities needed. There is an elevator to assist getting luggage to rooms but getting luggage from street parking to hotel was a bit more work. Staff was very friendly and did assist with finding street parking for us.

This was a decent option right in the heart of town. Honestly, the location can't be beat -- my room looked out on the harbour, and was a minute walk from restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. I stayed in the Concordia -- basically an annex. It feels kinda like a dorm in there, but the rooms were very standard for a hotel. The bed was good, the pillows could stand to be updated, but it was clean and reasonably comfy. In the annex, most of the rooms are only accessible through stairs so keep that in mind. The room has a bar fridge which is nice. Main complaint is people hanging out on the fire escape smoking late at night. For whatever reason, they felt it necessary to bang the doors as loudly as possible which was annoying. Parking is provided although they keep pointing out first come first serve. In my case, I just left my car in the spot the entire stay. Lunenburg gets quite busy and parking can be a real pain especially if you want to park overnight.

We were comfortable enough at Smugglers Inn and the room was spacious but I have no idea why it has 4 stars. It has no amenities that deserve that rating so don’t pay more based on that. The front desk was very helpful. Our room was dated but clean. Pillows need replacing. We had a sliver of a view of the water. Well located (but most is in Lunenberg).

The hotel location is great and parking was available just around the corner. The front desk staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful which definitely made the stay better. The rooms are acceptable and clean and housecleaning did a nice job. The bathrooms are dated but still clean. The bed was just okay and the pillows are due for replacement. It is not quiet (on the busy street and rooms overhead) but that was fine for us. It just is a bit rundown and pricey for what you get. I cannot figure out why it is listed as a 4 star property as there are no amenities short of a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room (and again a very helpful front desk).
