Overall, we had a good stay at Van der Valk Hotel Maastricht. We were three people, including our 6-year-old daughter, and the hotel worked very well for a family stay. The rooms were very spacious and clean, with a functional bathroom and plenty of space for everyone. The breakfast was definitely one of the highlights, with a great variety and good quality. The swimming pool is also very nice and enjoyable, especially with children. However, there should be more places to put towels around the pool area, as it can be difficult to find somewhere convenient to leave them. Another positive point is the very large parking area, which is really convenient if you are travelling by car. There is also a bike station, which is a nice addition for exploring Maastricht by bicycle. Nothing extraordinary, but overall a comfortable and pleasant stay with spacious rooms, a very good breakfast and good facilities. We would consider staying here again.

Our stay in this hotel has been amazing! We booked the Standard family room, and the room was really big! There was a lot of free space, as well as in the bathroom. The bathroom was also very big, and the architecture was beautiful.|The breakfast was very yummy, it didn’t have a lot, but it had the most important things. |The rooms were very clean, and you couldn’t hear anything from outside the room.

We booked a last-minute stay for my birthday at Van der Valk and honestly, everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms were absolutely spotless (we stayed in the Deluxe Twin room), easily one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in, and we travel quite a lot. The service was incredibly kind, from reception to the restaurant and bar, and we felt welcomed the whole time. Everyone was so helpful with anything we needed. Also, the bus stops right in front of the hotel and takes you into the city in just 10-15 minutes, which made everything super easy. Can’t recommend it enough! 10/10

Hotel environment was good BUT :1. Check in and check out timing. Four o'clock is very late for a check in. Global standard allows checking In as from 13.00 hours! Eleven o'clock is very early for checking out. Again global standard sets check out at 12.00 with possible extension to 14.00 hours.2. The room was supposed to be " comfort plus". I experienced no special comfort or extra comfort for that matter. Room was standard in terms of size and equipment.3. Reception staff allowed the "concession" of checking out at 12.00 and went to considerable length stressing that it is a gross exception! Not the right attitude for a service organization.

Four star hotel living up to its ratings. Good rooms, great breakfast. Expensive though but quite close to MECC congress centre. It’s walkable to the old town and the city centre but it takes about 20 minutes. Rooms were clean as well. However, I did not find the reception as professional as for a four star hotel. Upon arrival they told us that the room wasn’t prepaid. And if we hadn’t insisted, we would have double paid. But luckily another receptionist jumped in and corrected things. We did not get an apology. The spa area was also good, with 3 kinds of sauna. None of them was warm enough though. Breakfast amazing. The omelet made upon order was amazing and the chefs were really nice. A little better quality of coffees would have topped it!

We have been regular Van der Valk guests for years, all over the Netherlands, from Assen to Eindhoven. This stay in Maastricht was the first time we left disappointed. The room Room 311 smelled strongly of stale, musty water on arrival. It came from the drains, all of them. We reported it the same evening. Someone came up with a cleaning product, but the smell was back within two hours. Reading other reviews on Google, this is clearly not a one-off room problem. A smell coming from every drain in a room points at the plumbing, not at housekeeping, and detergent only masks it for an hour or two. Credit where it is due: the next day the room had been cleaned again properly, with a note from reception and something sweet left for us. That was a decent gesture and the smell did improve, while our visit was in July and we could keep the window open all the time. Other details in the room did not match the price. The third sleeping place was a sofa bed rather than a proper bed. The bathroom door does not close fully. The separate toilet has no washbasin at all, so you have to walk to the bathroom to wash your hands. No towels available at the pool itself. You have to walk back to reception every time. Of the three saunas, only one was properly warm. After all, what ruined the stay was the extension. We asked at reception to keep the same room for two more nights under the same conditions. This was confirmed. We paid 448.50 euro for two nights, more than a promotional offer we had waiting at another hotel in the same chain. The following morning we were turned away at the breakfast restaurant because breakfast was not in the booking. The supervisor insisted we had to pay extra. Being sent away in the breakfast queue, in front of other guests, for a booking error we did not make, is not what you expect after years of choosing this chain first. Two stars, and those go to the housekeeping team, who genuinely tried.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very clean, the service was great, room corridor smells very welcoming and fresh. The food (dinner) however, is the best part! Thank you!
