Hotel is well located a short walking distance from the sassi. Rooms are comfortable but require refreshments. Staff is very friendly and customer oriented. Breakfast is average, many sweet treats, missing good quality bread, olives, cheese etc. No problem with finding free street parking around the hotel.

Had to leave Scilla at 2am and drove to Matera arriving around 7:15am. While we weren’t really planning on checking in until 4pm, the staff went out of their way above and beyond to make us comfortable by immediately providing us with access to the underground parking garage. Then provided us with with cornettos and capuchinos before they even had the coffee bar open! They THEN rushed to get us a room in record time. A very clean, comfortable room with every amenity you could need. A great value & bargain. Thank You Hotel Nazionale!

Hotel is well located a short walking distance from the sassi as well as downtown. Rooms are comfortable although the bathroom is small and tightly packed. Rooms are serviced daily and towels are changed. Reception staff as well as breakfast staff are friendly and customer oriented. Breakfast is average with many sweet treats, it can be improved by having better quality cheese and ham. It caters a lot to group travel as well as businessmen. Street parking around the hotel is available and free.

When we checked in we were given an upgraded room. The hotel is very modern. The room spacious and well equipped. Bathroom very clean and good facilities. Francesco on Reception was very helpful, he spoke english and advised us on restaurants, etc. Car parking is available under the hotel for 12 euro a night but it is a very secure car park. The hotel is 25 minutes walk to the main square or there is taxis or buses or you can take your car and use a car park closer to the centre. Restaurant was only open for breakfast which was quite good with a reasonable choice. It would have been nice if it had been open for dinner as at times sightseeing can tire you out. Staff were friendly and helpful.

By far the nicest hotel staff I have ever found. Fluent in Spanish and English. Super dog friendly, any dog size. Welcome dig pack includes 😍😍😍Just 1,5 Km from sassi and close to food stores, shops and restaurants (also a pharmacy very close to the hotel). Excellent breakfast including local food and spectacilar vegan options. Bikes can also be rented. Large and comfortable rooms (we were two adults and two dogs and we had plenty of space)

We arrived late in the evening, the gentleman at the reception was super accommodating. |All the staff in this hotel are fabulous, pleasant, professional and super accommodating. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the bed is comfortable. The pups had a bed, treat, toy, and water and food bowls waiting. We had dressing gowns and slippers waiting along with a full mini bar.|It made for a fabulous stay in this beautiful city in Italy.

Chose this hotel because it is close to the bus stop where we took a bus out of Matera. Hence we had to walk about 20 minutes to reach Matera square. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. We had all meals there and managed to cover all viewpoints planned.
