We stayed at InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto during the school holidays with our two children, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Upon checking in, we found that our room was not cooling properly. I contacted the concierge and politely requested to be moved to another room. Instead, we were advised that the engineering team would inspect the issue first. The engineer confirmed there was a problem with the chiller and asked us to wait another 10 minutes for the room to cool down. However, the room remained warm despite waiting. I contacted the concierge again, explaining that we had two children and were exhausted from our flight and Melbourne activities. Rather than offering an immediate room change, we were provided with an electric fan and had to spend the entire night in an uncomfortable, warm room. The following day, we were finally offered another room. Given the inconvenience we had experienced, I expected a more thoughtful gesture, such as a room upgrade, particularly as I was eligible for one. However, we were moved to the same room category, and to our disappointment, the replacement room was dirty. I understand that technical issues can happen, but the way they are handled makes a significant difference to the guest experience. We expected a much higher standard of service, comfort and attention to detail from a five-star hotel, especially when travelling with children. Unfortunately, this stay fell short of our expectations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews how guest complaints, room changes and room cleanliness are handled.

A fabulous hotel with such helpful staff. Valet car service was quick, atmosphere was relaxed and safe, room was perfect - only wish I could have gone outside from the balcony door, but they were locked. Swimming pool and spa, sauna and gym great. Easy access to free trams that travel the CBD, and within walking distance to so many sights, shops, features and eating places. The hotel looks amazing both inside and outside. I am happy to recommend this hotel to all.

We stayed here for our anniversary. The staff were fantastic and even organised a bottle of sparkling wine on our arrival. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful whenever we had any questions. The room was a great size, although it was noticeably dated (this is the only reason why the review gets 4/5). The buffet breakfast was good and location was perfect, just a short walk to the tram stop.

It was very good, but it could have been great. Arrived at 10.15am by taxi, was dropped off at the rear entry, but it was all locked and couldn't get in. Eventually found a button for wheelchair access and pressedvirvsnd the doors opened. Signage to explain how to get in would be simple fix. Once in, I walked towards reception, except it was on a higher floor but unfortunately there's no signage in the elevator saying where reception is located. Again a simple signage update would fix this. Found reception eventually and explained my frustration and was simply told "we keep the other entrance closed till 9am for security reasons". I had arrived at 10 past 10am. They kindly stored my bag as I had some meetings to go to. Returned late afternoon and checked in, and my luggage was already in my spacious and well appointed room. Went out to the theatre that night, but afterwards I was hungry as I had skipped dinner. Room service on the tv just displays a QR code that then displays a menu on your phone (I miss a physical menu to peruse). Unfortunately everything I tried to choose was rejected with an error message saying "Oops Selection Does Not Exist". I ended up calling reception who were eventually able to order the burger I wanted. It arrived promptly and was honestly one of the most delicious room service burgers I've ever had. I'd definitely stay again, as the room was great, super lux beds, shower is a dream experience and overall the staff were excellent. Just a few small things could turn good to great.

I used some IHG points for a room at the InterContinental having never stayed there before.|Check in was quick but with virtually no information given about the hotel's facilities.|We were given a room on level 8 the Ambassador floor however there was nothing Ambassadorial about this hotel room.|It looks like a business person's hotel room with an overly large desk, bathoom is from the 1980's with a room view of the filtfhy glass rootop from the hotel atrium.|The bathroom fan went all night which interrupted our sleep however the gym junkies at some ungoldly hour dropping dumbells on the gym floor (which is 2 floors above) was enough to finally break us.|Don't park in the Rialto car park as they charge me $136 for 17 hours!|We didn't eat in the hotel but had drink at Ronnie's which does serve dinner. This hotel like many others in Australia are long overdue for refurbishments. Asian hotels provide far superior service and rooms/suites.|All up a very disappointing stay.

The wife and I Recently stayed at the InterContinental Melbourne and we were genuinely impressed. From the moment you walk in, there is a sense of class and sophistication that many hotels aim for, but few actually achieve. The rooms were spacious, beautifully presented, and maintained to a very high standard. The overall ambiance of the hotel strikes a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. My only criticism was that our room's balcony doors could not be opened and there were no windows that allowed fresh air into the room. For someone who enjoys a bit of natural ventilation, that was slightly disappointing. That said, the breakfast more than made up for it. The quality, variety, and presentation were exceptional. In fact, the breakfast left me feeling so positive that for a brief moment I thought maybe Jacinta Andrews wasn't that bad of a Premier and labor had our best interests at heart after all. But that feeling faded a few minutes after I left the table. Overall, a fantastic Melbourne hotel experience. Elegant surroundings, excellent rooms, outstanding service, and a breakfast that deserves its own five-star review. I would happily stay again.

The room and hallway were very dirty. Photos attached. The bed was comfortable and sheets seemed clean though. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again. It’s luxury price tag, budget hotel. The building itself is beautiful though. Worth a visit to the lobby (free). The pool tiles were clean though and the view from the pool is nice. Hopefully the bandaid stuck on the window is gone now. Reception staff were nice. I did not make a cleanliness complaint in person (emailed them after leaving, no reply) because another room was similar and I didn’t want to waste my leisure time fixing something which simply should have been done correctly in the first place.
