Notebook Miami Beach

The best time to visit Miami is March through April, when temperatures stay in the high 20s and rain is less frequent. From May through October, the weather turns hotter and much rainier, with June and September seeing the most wet days. December offers pleasant warmth and the famous Art Basel festival, though it draws large crowds.

South Beach suits beach lovers and nightlife seekers, with Collins Avenue and Lincoln Road nearby. Downtown Miami is central for business and easy access to Bayside Marketplace and museums. Wynwood appeals to those wanting art and dining, with the Wynwood Walls close by. Brickell is a residential and dining hub, ideal for a quieter stay. The Setai, The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, and InterContinental Miami are among the featured hotels in these areas.

Start at Bayside Marketplace for the waterfront buzz and easy access to the bay. Wynwood Walls is an open-air street art museum worth every minute. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens offers a glimpse into Miami's Gilded Age with stunning bayfront grounds. The Pérez Art Museum and the adjacent Maurice A. Ferré Park make a great cultural afternoon, and Zoo Miami is a top pick if you're traveling with kids.

The full-day tour goes to Key West, worth it for its quirky Old Town and sunset celebrations. For other day trips, the Everglades offer airboat rides and wildlife like alligators, while Fort Lauderdale has beaches and a lively riverfront. A day trip takes a full day, so plan for an extra day in Miami.

Plan 3 to 4 days for Miami. In that time, you can see Wynwood Walls, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, and the Pérez Art Museum, plus stroll Lummus Park and visit Bayside Marketplace. If you want to add a day trip to Key West, set aside one extra day. Two days would feel rushed for the main sights.
