The best time to visit New Delhi is from October to March, when daytime highs range from 22°C to 31°C and rain is scarce. November and December are especially pleasant, with clear skies and mild evenings. Avoid April through June, when temperatures regularly hit 37-38°C, and July to September, when monsoon rains bring heavy downpours and high humidity. The famous Diwali festival in October or November adds a festive atmosphere, though it is not the main reason to plan your trip.

For first-time visitors, Connaught Place is central and well-connected, with easy access to sights and shopping. Janpath, nearby, suits those wanting a quieter, more historic feel near India Gate and museums. Aerocity is convenient for short stays or early flights, with many hotels and a metro link. Dwarka is a more residential area, good for a local feel and access to the airport metro.

Start at India Gate, the city's iconic war memorial and gathering spot. Red Fort and Qutb Minar are the two UNESCO-listed monuments that define Delhi's history. Humayun's Tomb is a stunning Mughal garden tomb that inspired the Taj Mahal. For a peaceful break, Lodhi Garden offers tombs and greenery in the heart of the city. Dilli Haat is a lively open-air market for crafts and regional food.

The full-day tours from New Delhi go to Agra for the Taj Mahal, and to Jaipur for its forts and palaces. Agra is a single destination, while Jaipur offers a full day of sightseeing. Both are classic day trips from the city.

Plan 3 to 4 days for New Delhi. In 3 days, you can see India Gate, Red Fort, Qutb Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and Lodhi Garden, plus a stroll through Dilli Haat. Add a fourth day for Hauz Khas or Purana Qila at a relaxed pace. If you take a day trip to Agra or Jaipur, add one extra day.
