Hostel Hakuseiso

The best time to visit Okinawa is from October to November, when humidity drops and temperatures are warm but comfortable. April is also pleasant, with mild days before the rainy season begins. The rainiest stretch runs from May to June, while July and August are hot and humid. October also hosts the famous Naha Giant Tug-of-War festival, adding a cultural highlight to your visit.

Naha suits first-timers and those wanting city convenience, with museums, dining, and transit near Kokusai Street. Onna village offers resort-focused stays along the coast, ideal for sunset views and relaxing. Chatan, around American Village, is lively with shops and ocean views. For a quieter base near the aquarium, Motobu is practical. If you want to be central, Hyatt Regency Naha fits; for resorts, Halekulani in Onna or Hilton in Chatan work well.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the top draw, with its massive whale shark tank. American Village is a lively seaside spot with shopping and views. Ocean Expo Park surrounds the aquarium with exhibits and gardens. Okinawa World offers caves, crafts, and cultural shows. Ryukyu Mura is a recreated village showing traditional Okinawan life.

On a free day, join a full-day snorkeling tour to the Kerama Islands for clear waters and coral reefs. The Memorial Peace Tour encompasses battlefields and the Peace Memorial, offering insight into the war. A guided private tour can take you to Miyako Island to explore its shores and culture. For the island's own highlights, take the Hip-Hop Bus C course to the north, including the aquarium and Cape Hedo.

Plan 4 days: three for the main sights and one extra for a day trip. Spend one day at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Ocean Expo Park, another at American Village, and a third at Okinawa World and Ryukyu Mura. Use the fourth day for a Kerama Islands or battlefields tour. If you skip the day trip, 3 days covers the highlights.
