The best time to visit Osaka is in April and May, when temperatures are mild (around 20-23°C) and humidity is lower, though May has more rain days. October is also pleasant with comfortable 24°C highs and fewer rainy days. The hottest, most humid stretch is July and August, with highs above 32°C and frequent rain. Winter months (December to February) are cool and dry, with the fewest rain days, but can be chilly. Spring's cherry blossom season in early April is a famous draw, though it can be busy.

Shinsaibashi offers a quieter yet central base for shopping and dining, with options like Joytel Hotel Namba Dotonbori. Shin-Osaka is convenient for shinkansen trips, though less atmospheric for sightseeing.

From Osaka, you can take full-day tours to Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Miyajima.
