You can eat well without leaving the hotel: Ekspedisjonshallen is an all-day brasserie with live jazz, TAK Oslo is a Nordic-Japanese rooftop restaurant, and Izakaya Bar & Terrace serves street food and cocktails. Nearby, Cordial at Frognerveien 11 is a 4-minute walk, Antonietta at Frognerveien 12B is 5 minutes away, and Vadio at Bygdøy allé 8 is 6 minutes. For a longer stroll, Brasserie Ouest at Elisenbergveien 19 is 12 minutes away. All are within easy walking distance of Sommerro.
Sommerro sits in Frogner, Oslo's elegant west end, with charming townhouses, 19th-century apartment buildings, galleries, and boutique shops. The Royal Palace and Slottsparken are a short stroll away, and the National Library is right across the street. Frogner Park, with its famous sculptures, is a 16-minute walk, while the National Museum is 9 minutes on foot. Trams and buses stop at Solli Plass outside the door, and Nationaltheatret station is about a 7-minute walk for trains and the metro. The area feels calm and residential, yet you are close to Aker Brygge and the waterfront for more options.
From Oslo Airport, take the Airport Express Train (Flytoget) to Nationaltheatret Station, about a 26-minute ride. From there, it is a scenic 7-minute walk up Henrik Ibsens gate to Solli Plass, where the hotel is located. Alternatively, you can take Tram 13 or 15 from Nationaltheatret and get off at Solli, just one stop away. If you prefer a direct ride, taxis are available outside the arrivals hall, with the drive typically taking 40–50 minutes. The hotel is also well connected by bus and tram lines right at Solli Plass.
In the evening, you can stay at Sommerro and enjoy live jazz in Ekspedisjonshallen, or head to the rooftop Izakaya Bar & Terrace for cocktails and street food. The hotel also has a cinema with screenings and a rooftop pool with city views. For a short walk, Cordial on Frognerveien 11 is about 4 minutes away, and Vadio on Bygdøy allé 8 is roughly 6 minutes, both good for dinner. The National Museum is a 9-minute walk, and Akershus Fortress is 16 minutes, if you want to explore after dark. Trams and buses stop right outside, so getting further into the city is easy.
Sommerro is a great base for exploring Oslo, with many top sights within a short walk. The National Museum is 9 minutes away, the Historical Museum 11, and Frogner Park 16, so you can easily start your day on foot. Akershus Fortress and Oslo Cathedral are also reachable in about 16 to 19 minutes. For the Fram and Kon-Tiki Museums, a 22-minute walk gets you there, or you can hop on a tram or bus from Solli Plass right outside. The city center's museums and harbor area are all close, making it simple to see a lot without long transfers. For farther sights, the nearby Nationaltheatret station connects you quickly across Oslo.
