Stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We had an excellent time. Super location, right next to Oslo Central Train Station. Rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding. Numerous selections, and the layout to get the items was superb. We used their luggage storage while we went on the Norway in a Nutshell tour. If you ask, you can get a to-go breakfast bag as well (if you are unable to stay for breakfast). Overall, excellent hotel.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Thon Hotel Opera and had a very enjoyable experience overall. This is an efficient, modern business hotel in a fantastic central location, just a short walk from Oslo Central Station, the Opera House, and many of the city's main attractions. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and has good facilities throughout. We booked a Business Room and would definitely recommend the upgrade. The room was noticeably more spacious than a standard room, with a very comfortable sofa and a balcony that provided a pleasant place to relax after a day exploring the city. The breakfast was a real highlight. There was an extensive selection of both hot and cold options to suit all tastes. In particular, the beetroot and egg salad was excellent. The quality and variety on offer made breakfast something to look forward to each morning. All of the staff we encountered were efficient, professional, and polite. Check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free, which added to the overall positive experience. One tip for future guests: the road between the hotel and the waterfront can be quite busy and noisy. If possible, request a room overlooking the station side or ask for a higher floor. The higher floors are quieter and also benefit from more natural sunlight. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is that the gym was closed during our stay, and we were not informed of this in advance. There was also a noticeable amount of maintenance work taking place around the property. Neither issue significantly impacted our stay, but it would have been appreciated if the hotel had proactively communicated the gym closure before arrival. Overall, Thon Hotel Opera is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located hotel in Oslo. We would happily stay here again.

I rarely give all 5s but that is what I am doing here. The location was perfect for our needs. The staff was friendly. The rooms were very nice and the breakfast options amazing. We also ate in the lobby restaurant and had really good tasting food. The staff there was good too. The only issue I ran into is that the fitness room was closed. I would also like an any easy to pick up new tea bags or coffee packs for use in the room without having to wait until the room is cleaned.

I didn't have time to use the facilities as my flight was changed and I needed to leave early in the morning. I didn't realize breakfast was included (I feel like it usually isn't in Norway), and that was a pleasant surprise, even if I didn't have time to try it. However, the best part of my stay was when I checked out very early to catch my train to the airport and the person in reception offered me a packed breakfast to go since I didn't have time to eat. I passed as I had too much luggage to manage one more thing, but I really appreciated the gesture and it was such a nice start to a long day of intercontinental travel.

We checked in this afternoon, and Alejandra was so incredibly kind and helpful. We arrived a little early, but she kindly allowed us to check in and even upgraded us to the most beautiful room at the top. ❤️ Dear Alejandra, thank you so much for everything. Location location location and breakfast buffet!! This hotel has it all - next to the Central Station for trains to/from the airport, opera house, Munch museum literally 2-3 minutes away. Restaurants and bars within 10 minute a walk. Oh, did I mention that the breakfast buffet is the best - what a great way to start your day. Staff are friendly and attentive

Very centrally located, near the train station and near the centre of town attractions and restaurants. We travelled with our 2 teenage children and a family room for 4 was plenty big enough and was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice, with a large selection.

I am currently staying at various hotels in the Oslo region and I'm choosing them based on breakfast reviews, especially the Twinings competition for best hotel breakfast. I am so disappointed in this hotel. I don't understand why it's a semi finalist in the competition or why people say massive spread. It's perfectly OK. It's fine. But it's not massive. It's not impressive at all. And it's below other hotels I've stayed at in the area which are not in the competition, for example the one inside folketeateret. Here they have no freshly squeezed orange juice. No pancakes as the first hotel so far. No omelet station. No chia pudding or small glasses with fun things. No multi vitamins but they did have an unmarked jar that us Norwegians recognize as omega3. Almost no cakes or sweet things for those who prefer that. Small warm items section. No barista to make you fresh coffee. Very limited allergy area with no yogurt for example or chocolate milk for allergic kids (or adults). It's fine, it's a very basic 2-3 star breakfast. But I feel very confused about the semi finalist status in Twinings competition and people's great reviews here. One of the Twinings requirements are also staff treatment of guests and I was met with a woman on her smartphone gossiping with other staff, waving me away when I waited asking her if she wanted to know my room number. The staff in the breakfast area were gossiping and uninterested. I didn't get one smile and felt rather as a burden. However the gentleman at the reception was very welcoming and nice and the room is clean.
