I was very disappointed in my stay at Vila Foz. The staff were terrible. The bar and the restaurant got multiple orders wrong. It could have been a language barrier, but for a five star hotel I expected the staff to speak English; which they seemed to, but still got multiple orders wrong. The good, the location is amazing and the ocean view room had a great view. The bar makes an amazing pistachio mojito! The bad, pretty much everything else. The bathroom in the room only had a rain shower. It had a wand, but mounted too low to use as the main shower. They’re was not much room by the bathroom vanity and no place for our hanging toiletry bag, so it had to hang in the WC room. Which also had the only garage can, that was so small most dropped items missed the can. The large beautiful windows didn’t have sheer curtains; every room I’ve ever stayed in (including Europe) had sheer curtains. The balcony was great, I wish I could have enjoyed it with some type of shade, but no. If you want to enjoy the balcony, prepare to bake into the evening sun. Lastly, the floor in the room was tile, so it was all very slippery when wet so be careful. And no foot rest or handhold in the shower either. The room is also not for family and friends traveling together. The showers are completely glass, which looks cool, but the wood shutters don’t provide complete privacy. If you tired of your room you can make your way out the dark dreary hallway, to the slowest elevator to the pool. The pool area was also completely covered with tile, so again be careful. The pool was also about 10 degrees hotter than the outside temp, but you get used to it. The pool is definitely not for kids. Speaking of the hall, the only way to get from the rooms to the bar is across the cobble stone driveway or on the lower level, then back up the slow elevator. To top it off there was construction next door that they didn’t disclose, so that added to my pain. Overall, it’s a great location, but poor execution. They missed so many basic things that any luxury hotel would have. Definitely not worth the money.

I felt that because I was travelling alone and young they didn’t pay much attention to me kind of ignoring me, whereas if I had been with my partner or appeared with my Louis vouitton bags, they would have given me better service. I paid the same amount for the room for 3 nights as everyone else. Just because I am young and in sports clothes, I believe I have the right to a “5- star service” just as the 65 year old couple next to me. Kitchen staff, waiters, staff almost seemed to roll their eyes at me when I passed. Not the women only the men. Waited for 40 minutes for my breakfast this morning while the other couples around me were served first. Hotel itself very beautiful. Gym and spa facilities very nice.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Vila Foz Hotel & Spa offers a comfortable and refined stay in a beautiful location by the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel has an elegant atmosphere, tasteful design, and a level of service that reflects its luxury positioning. It is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a quieter and more sophisticated alternative to staying in the city center. The room quality was very good. The room was comfortable, well maintained, and equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The bedding, cleanliness, and overall attention to detail met our expectations and contributed to a relaxing experience. The hotel facilities, including the spa and common areas, were enjoyable and well presented. The oceanfront setting is undoubtedly one of the hotel’s strongest features and creates a very peaceful environment. The reason for my 4-star rating rather than 5 stars is that, while the experience was very good overall, there were a few areas where the hotel could further elevate the guest experience to fully match the standards of the very best luxury hotels. Nevertheless, it is clearly an above-average property that delivers a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Overall, Vila Foz Hotel & Spa is a stylish and upscale hotel that I would recommend to anyone visiting Porto, especially those who appreciate comfort, quality accommodations, and a relaxing seaside atmosphere.

‼️ I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my stay at Vila Foz Hotel & Spa. I booked their Onice Room. According to the official description on the hotel’s website, this room type is described as overlooking “one of Porto’s picturesque streets.” However, the reality of the room I was given was entirely different. The direct, central view from my balcony was a line of municipal waste containers (ecopontos) located directly underneath the window, together with a parking lot. There was also a distinct unpleasant smell coming from that area. In my view, this did not correspond to the advertised “picturesque” experience or to what one would reasonably expect from a 5-star, MICHELIN Key property charging around €500 per night. I was also deeply disappointed by the reception’s handling of this issue. When I brought this mismatch to their attention, I did not receive what I considered to be an adequate apology or an equivalent solution. Instead, I was told that moving to a room that better matched the standard I had expected would require an additional payment — first €100, later reduced to €75. I found this unacceptable. In my opinion, the room description did not match the actual room experience I received, and the proposed solution placed the burden of correcting that mismatch on the guest. I have fully documented the view with photographs and videos. We hoped that at least the following day would pass without any further issues. Unfortunately, the problems started again at breakfast. First, they forgot to bring coffee for one of us. When we politely reminded them, we were informed that our order had been lost, even though one of the cups of coffee from the same order had in fact already been delivered. We were also surprised to learn that breakfast was supposed to include a hot dishes menu. Nobody had offered it to us. Why this happened remains unclear to us. At that point, we decided not to argue further, as our previous attempts to resolve issues had not produced a satisfactory response. Then, during check-out, we spent over half an hour trying to explain to the reception staff — three of whom were present — that this level of service was absolutely unacceptable for a hotel of this category. Unfortunately, we did not receive any meaningful resolution. Aside from apologies, we did not feel that the hotel properly acknowledged the mistakes or the seriousness of the experience. The overall impression we were left with was that our concerns were not taken seriously. For a luxury hotel, this was extremely disappointing. It is also a massive shock to me that a hotel offering this level of experience is included in the MICHELIN Guide and holds a MICHELIN Key. I sincerely hope the MICHELIN Guide monitors the reputation and guest experience of the properties it includes. I am also considering submitting a formal complaint through the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico. In short: never again. Based on my stay, I cannot recommend Vila Foz Hotel & Spa.

This is a real 5 stars hotel. Service is amazing, everyone did a great job. The rooms and the amenities 5 stars. We want to come back to Oporto, just to stay in this great hotel. They also have free bikes for guests. They charged my electric car. Amazing pool and spa. The best of all is the people who work in this hotel. The breakfast is amazing.

This hotel is fabulous! The staff treat you as a guest should be treated, accommodations, balcony, bed, linens, restaurant, spa, all top notch. Right across the street from the ocean, beautiful views, restaurants etc. Plan on the beach, it's great. Ubers obviously go everywhere, pick you up in minutes.

I don’t think it’s worth it. The reception staff were not nice; in fact, they were even rude and definitely unhelpful. Our room had an amazing view of the trash area, and if you ask for another room, don’t expect any help or support from the staff. In our case, the response was: “We do not control the municipality, and if you want another room, you should pay an additional €150.” The spa is okay, but nothing special. If you want to order something, don’t expect prompt service. In my case, I had to ask several times before being served. We also had to send emails to request the refund of our deposit. Once again, the staff were unhelpful and rude. The only thing I would recommend is the restaurant.

Spent a wonderful night and day here a few weeks ago. Amazing room with the best ocean view balcony. Wonderful Michelin star restaurant and relaxing and calm spa. Service was incredible throughout also. Hope to come back soon.
