The best time to visit Prague is from May to September, when days are warm and long, with highs from 19°C to 26°C. June and September are especially pleasant, with fewer rain days than July. July is the rainiest month, while December through February are cold and damp, with highs around 4°C to 6°C. Spring and early autumn offer mild weather and lower humidity.

Stay in Staré Město (Old Town) for immediate access to the square, clock, and Charles Bridge; it suits first-timers. Nové Město (New Town) offers wider streets and easy tram access, with hotels like EA Hotel Apartments Wenceslas Square and Royal Court Apartments. Vinohrady is a calm, residential choice with parks and cafes, home to Hotel Beránek. Karlín, near the river, has a local feel and the Botanique Hotel Prague.

Start at Prague Castle, the city's iconic hilltop complex, and don't miss St. Vitus Cathedral inside. Walk across Charles Bridge, lined with statues and views of the river. Old Town Square and its Astronomical Clock are the historic heart, with the hourly show. Vyšehrad offers a quieter, fortified hill with great panoramas. The Dancing House is a striking piece of modern architecture along the river.

Full-day tours from Prague go to Dresden and the Bastei Bridge in Germany, the medieval town of Kutná Hora, and Český Krumlov with its castle. These are the main day trips offered. If you prefer to stay closer, well-known options include the Karlštejn Castle and the town of Terezín, both reachable by train or bus.

Plan 3 days to see Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, St. Vitus Cathedral, and Vyšehrad at a relaxed pace. Add a fourth day if you want to include the Dancing House, Powder Tower, or Lennon Wall. A day trip to Kutná Hora or Český Krumlov needs one extra day.
