We had a chance to spend one night of our honeymoon at this awesome place. We loved the atmosphere, the facilities and all the services offered. Huge clean kitchen with all you might need, great rooms (we got a free upgrade 🫶🏼), laundry, quick check-in, all on a walking distance from the center and literally in front of the lake. We just loved it

I loved it here last year when I stayed so booked again this year. I had to change my dates twice because of work in Australia and who would habe known the staff member that does bookings would not help at all. Eventually complaining to booking.com the hostel got back to me and changed the dates. After my stay which was nice, quieter then alot of hostels in Queenstown, I wrote a review saying hostel wouldnt change my dates even though it says you can change dates as much as you want if its available. Which it was. Booking.com ended up msging me asking did I really stay there? And I can't write a review if I had not. I had to prove I stayed there. Which I sent my details and parking ticket I paid for to stay there. My review was taken off because the hostel had no information of me staying there. So they lied. Don't take this as a bad review for Haka hostels. Just this one in particular and the staff members running it into the ground

A very pleasant stay at a wonderful location by the lake side. For a hostel the rooms were clean and the showers all well taken care of and nicely usable with hot water. Of course bring ear plugs as the walls are thin and it could get loud. Staff was mostly decent, not the most friendly or attentive but that’s to be expected as most of them are not professional hospitality staff.

Loved this place! Facilities were great as always and everything was really clean. Definitely my favourite hostel brand in nz. Only issue was parking as you could pay to park on property or try and find somewhere on the road closest to the buildings for free or on the lake only during the day. Would definitely recommend to anyone! being right on the lake it was lovely for sunset and sunrises

So here we were entering the infamous haka house. It all went well, check in was smooth. But… as we walked up the stairs, someone had absolutely diabolically annihilated the level 2 toilets. The stench was sooo bad, I thought this was going to be it. It was so infectious, the radiation spread and actually made me feel sick. However, upon walking up the stairs level 3 was very fresh. The level 3 was unaffected by catastrophic bomb of a turd that someone left as they departed the haka house. The shower, INCREDIBLE SHOWER. One of the the best showers, I liked it. Room was very clean. Ventilation was great, we checked. Hidden room if you are smart enough. Overall best hostel ever

- great accommodation for backpackers- room is spacious (can open both luggage and keep them under the bed), great view of Lake Wakatipu to- street parking just outside of Haka House is free but very limited. ended up paying $15 per night for parking within Haka House (there’s limited lots as well)- there’s stairs from reception area to the first floor. have to carry luggage up a small flight of stairs before being able to access the lift- communal kitchen is big and spacious for 6 groups to cook at the same time

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect, making it so easy to get around. My room was spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable. A huge shoutout to the wonderful staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. I will definitely stay here again!

Stayed 5 nights right in front of the lake with beautiful views. It’s a short walk to the shops and restaurants, and the bus stop is right outside for easy access to the city centre and airport. The rooms and kitchen area were clean, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful when needed. The only thing I found a bit different was that it lacked the usual hostel vibe where people talk and meet new people maybe that’s just how things are nowadays with phones and everyone keeping to themselves. If you’re a solo adult traveller, though, it could actually be a good thing because it’s peaceful, with no loud drunk or party crowd. I personally liked that it was away from the busy areas and had a calmer atmosphere. One thing to note is that the top bunk beds are very noisy even with slight movement, while the bottom bunks are much better. Overall, most of the Asian guests were respectful and quiet.
