I had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world. As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat. The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay

Stayed in the Kereru cabin!! Was a very cute tiny cabin with a loft bed, and a bench and table on the main area. No running water, but the bathrooms were close and one was always free. The cabin got cold at night but the provided heater worked well and the mattress and blankets were super comfy. The shared kitchen and living facilities were homely and really enhanced the experience.

What I expected when I booked this room through Expedia was another stereotypical hotel off the beaten path. What I got was an amazing little cabin all to myself, extremely friendly host who walked me around and gave a grand tour, very friendly other guests, great views, and a full - service shared kitchen/shower/laundry! I cannot recommend this place enough for all my fellow travelers. Whether with a partner or solo, this place will not disappoint. What an amazing place to return to once your adventures of the day are finished. The only slight downside is it is slightly beyond walking distance from Queenstown center, however, this also makes it great for getting out and away from the city. I hope to return again in the very near future!!!

I felt very comfortable at Ora Retreat. The atmosphere, the quiet, the view is fabulous, the gardens, the homely feel of the kitchen and the lounge area were all so welcoming. Your host is kind, welcoming and humble and if I had more time there, I am sure, I would have discovered a very interesting and wise woman. The shared bathrooms were always clean, the coffee was delish, and as the property is a few kilometres out of town, it felt like I could have been anywhere, and not in the hustle of the Queenstown township. Glenorchy Road, which is two streets away, is a worth while drive to Glenorchy and the Routeburn Track. The drive is stunning!!! Thanks for having me Ora Retreat.

Had a lovely few nights here with my mum after completing my university exams. We couldn't have chosen a more calming, inviting, and peaceful place to unwind. A great location with welcoming hosts, and an appropriate price. The facilities were great (especially the coffee machine) and were complemented by breathtaking views. We loved our stay and will certainly be returning !

Response from the property

Lovely atmosphere - very welcoming hosts, nice rooms with comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, scenic balcony, and cute dogs! Giving four starts instead of 5 because getting to shared bathrooms from cabins required walking down a stone staircase that was a bit longer than I anticipated (maybe 15 steps?) and wasn’t the most fun in the cold rainy weather we had, and would probably be especially challenging/annoying for people with mobility issues or those that need to get up multiple times at night to use the restroom. If you do not have these concerns, then the Ora Retreat would be a perfect fit for you - the vibes are excellent!

We had a really lovely stay! Our host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. We stayed for 8 nights, and the location was perfect. We had a car, so getting into the town centre was easy—only a 5-minute drive—also plenty of street parking available at Ora. There is also a bus 2mins walk away from hi h goes straight into town. The host even took us for a swim in the lake, and we warmed up afterward in the jacuzzi, which was such a nice touch. The living spaces were great, and we met some really cool people. We spent a lot of time hanging out together in the kitchen, living area, and on the patio, sharing food and stories. The shared bathrooms and toilets were always clean, and I never had to wait to use them. I had everything I needed. This is a home stay, so don’t come expecting a 5-star hotel, it’s more of a cozy homestay which is part of the charm. We had such a great time, I had to leave this review!

Beautiful view, but the listing feels more polished than the reality. The lake view is lovely and everyone was friendly, but the accommodation is much more basic than the photos suggest. The room itself is small and simple, and the bathroom was shared with ~12 guests, which was not obvious beforehand. A more accurate description would be something closer to an upgraded backpacker or retreat-style shared accommodation. The place may suit some guests well, but the presentation creates expectations that do not fully match the actual setup.
