Room was clean and comfortable the black out blinds done their job. The water did have an eggy smell. There was a fridge in the room, good sized tv, not that we seen much of it after being out and about most of the day we were grateful for the comfortable bed! Breakfast was good and plenty there to choose from. Great location too. Thanks to the staff for looking after us throughout our stay!

Hotel Fron has been lovely and charming. Staff are delightful, helpful and very kind, room is comfortable and clean and we are right in the middle of everything. Breakfast is varied and delicious; we have been using a parking garage to park our rental as it has been tricky to find street parking closer. Do bring earplugs if you don’t enjoy night life, but we had no trouble sleeping through with them. All in all a wonderful stay, definitely recommend and will stay again when we come back.

Great people in a convenient location. The excellent ground floor restaurant is where breakfast is served, but after 1200noon (we understand, it is our first evening so bear with us!) it becomes a separate restaurant or bistro business, whete we have had a lovely meal tonight. First night of three in Iceland and staying at Hotel Fron every night. We are, tonight, still getting used to the "compact" room sizing (in fairness, this was booked as a package by the excellent Trailfinders). Arrived Sunday 17MAY2026. Updated Tuesday 19May2026. After three perfect evenings (eating in the attached restaurant every evening) we are happy to recommend both Hotel Fron and the Bistro on the ground floor. The only advice would be - verify the room size with your travel agent when you make your reservation. Also, between 6pm and 7pm, book your table in advance in the Bistro. If we were to return to Iceland in the future, we would happily use this hotel and the Bistro again.

We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was good, the room was comfortable, and the lobby spacious. It was easy to store our bags on arrival and departure day, too. The staff (one woman in particular) wasn't particularly friendly but we'd stay there again, nonetheless. Great location to walk around the city.

Friendly, quiet, central, spotlessly clean. Breakfast standard very nice but nothing too special. The reception staff were FANTASTIC. Highly recommended for solo travellers.

I booked this about a year ago based on location and 4 star reviews on TA and Booking.com. The check in and all other communications were very poor. No greeting, no smile, just annoyance. After we schlepped our luggage to another building things looked and smelled worse. Our room was dark, dingy, and there were parked cars coming and going outside the only window that opened which happened to be right next to the bed. Everything felt dirty, I honestly don’t know if they gave us clean towels or sheets. The only redeeming quality was the bed was comfortable. The pillows were terrible and the air was very stagnant. The couch was falling apart. The advertise free internet but it very rarely worked. There was construction happening in the room next to us. On the plus side we had a fabulous time in Iceland!

Highlight of the hotel was definitely the location, very central to attractions! With that comes a bit of late night noise from nearby bars, but I was in the building behind from the Main Street so it wasn’t too bad. I booked a single room but think I received an upgrade to a larger room as it was quite spacious but it was on the ground floor with a wall of windows and sliding door out to a carpark area. So my room was not at all private and I did not feel comfortable being in my room with the curtains open. This was during summer so it wasn’t ideal to have to keep the curtains closed and lights on. The room otherwise was clean. Bathroom basic with limited counter space. Service was good, not super friendly, but I learnt this was common reception in Iceland. The hotel itself was quite nice, spread across multiple buildings, and the included breakfast was basic but good. Cost was very high for the Australian dollar for what I received, but the room was appropriate for my needs.

This is an excellent hotel. From check-in to check-out this was one of my best hotel experiences. The staff here are super nice. The room was huge and very clean. The location is superb. There is a little bistro attached to the reception area which has very good food and drinks. There are hundreds of eateries, shops, monuments, murals, sculptures, museums, shows, etc within short walking distance of this hotel. The locals have been some of the most friendly people I have met in all my travels. What a great trip, thanks Hotel Frón.

You are right on Laugavegur, Reykjavik's main dining street, so plenty of options are steps away. The hotel's own Reykjavik Bistro is right next door, serving Nordic-inspired dishes for lunch and dinner. For Italian, Rossopomodoro is about 191 meters away, and Núðluskálin, a noodle spot, is about 192 meters. The hotel also has a bar, cafe, and snack bar for lighter bites. For a broader taste of the city, the Reykjavik Food Walk tour is a great way to sample local favorites.
