The Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt traces its roots to the late 1300s, and more than 500 years of history remain visible in its aged wooden beams and classic period furniture. It stands in the heart of Salzburg’s old town, a few blocks from the banks of the River Salzach, and the surrounding streets are part of a UNESCO World Heritage City. The hotel offers 62 individually designed guest rooms and 20 spacious suites, each with views of the Kapuziner Monastery, the Salzach River, the cobblestone lanes of the old town, or the old fortress. Free high-speed Internet access is available throughout the property.

The location puts guests within easy walking distance of several landmarks, including Schönbrunn Palace, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Baroque Great Cathedral. Salzburg Cathedral is a three-minute walk away, Mozart’s Birthplace is three minutes, Getreidegasse Street is four, Fortress Hohensalzburg is seven, and Mirabell Palace is nine. Salzburg Airport lies seven kilometres from the city centre, and the main train station is five kilometres from the hotel. Drivers can pull up at the entrance on Rudolfskai, where valet parking handles the car and luggage.

Dining at the Restaurant Symphonie focuses on Austrian and international specialities in a fine-dining setting. The hotel’s bar pours classic wines, and during the summer months guests can take their drinks into the courtyard. The historical Renaissancesaal serves as a venue for meetings, banquets, and weddings, with natural light and modern audiovisual equipment, and it can accommodate up to 50 guests. The hotel received the 2017 TripAdvisor Hall of Fame Certificate of Excellence.

We stayed here for two nights. The property is located in the heart of Salzburg, everything is at a walking distance. The rooms are absolutely amazing, extremely spacious and well lit. The building has an old charm and it feels like you are staying in a typical Austrian Palace. The front desk staff are amazing, always promt at answering our questions which helped us a lot. Kudos to the housekeeping team for cleaning our rooms so well. We would definitely be back. Loads of great luck to you all. |Sakshi

Great service and helpful staff. We had a very spacious and quiet room, it has everything we need. The hotel is like old-luxury style located right at the center of the Salzburg old town. It’s very convenient from the airport, and to explore the old town.We really enjoyed the stay.

Very good hotel. Enjoyed staying there. Particularly front office manager Milan Biswakarma was very pleasant, very helpful and explained everything which makes our stay easy and nice. Sauna and indoor pool was very good and we enjoyed there. I would surely recommend anyone to stay there. It is five star service and you feel like you are staying in five star hotel.

Response from the property

Dear Bharat, thank you for visiting a Radisson Blu Hotel in Salzburg. However, we are the Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt, not the Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Centre which has pool and sauna. Best regards, Your Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt Team

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect, stepping out into old town. For the price, this hotel is great value and room was clean and staff friendly. My only criticism was the shower, it was a detachable head which wouldn’t stay up so I had to hold it to shower. Other than that, it was a fabulous stay and I would stay here again and recommend it, as it’s great value for the location. Thank you.

My family of five adults and one child recently spent four fabulous nights at the Radisson Blu Altstadt in three Superior rooms. Everything about this hotel was perfect! First and foremost, special accolades go to the wonderful hotel staff. The front desk personnel, valet staff, and servers at breakfast were phenomenal—always kind, welcoming, helpful, and extremely customer-service oriented. Before our trip, I had some confusion regarding the booking of our three Superior Rooms, and Ms. Lenk in Reservations kindly sorted everything out for me. She remained incredibly patient and gracious while responding to my multiple emails, and I greatly appreciated the excellent service she provided even before we arrived. Our Superior Rooms were huge, including very spacious bathrooms, and were exceptionally clean. In fact, the entire hotel was immaculate. Our rooms were also wonderfully quiet at night. We heard no music or street noise, which made it very easy to get a good night's sleep after busy days exploring Salzburg and the surrounding area. Another highlight was breakfast in Restaurant Symphonie. The selection of food was beautiful and extensive, and everything we tried was delicious. I especially appreciated that the chef did not undercook the bacon! It was cooked perfectly—crispy, but not burned. The restaurant itself is located in a lovely sunroom overlooking the Salzach River, making breakfast each morning an especially enjoyable experience. The setting is absolutely beautiful. The hotel's Old Town location is also superb. We could easily walk to restaurants, shops, and many of Salzburg's attractions, yet return at night to rooms that were peaceful and quiet. We had a rental car during our stay and found the hotel's valet parking service extremely convenient and efficient. We took the car out each day for excursions outside Salzburg, and the process of dropping it off and retrieving it always ran smoothly. Finally, the ambience of the Radisson Blu Altstadt is truly special. The interior is regal and classy, filled with wonderful Old World charm and character. It feels very different from a typical modern chain hotel and fits beautifully with the historic atmosphere of Salzburg. For us, the standouts were the fabulous customer service, spacious and immaculate rooms, peaceful nights, wonderful breakfast overlooking the Salzach River, excellent Old Town location, efficient valet service, and the hotel's beautiful historic ambience. We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at the Radisson Blu Altstadt and would happily stay here again. I definitely recommend this hotel!

This hotel has an incredible location in the heart of Old Town. It was easily walkable to every tour we took, to great restaurants, and to many beautiful churches. Breakfast was good and filled us up each morning. It was an easy €14 cab ride from the main train station. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

A beautiful historic hotel in the heart of old Salzburg. Very comfortable twin rooms for us and our teen grandchildren. Walk to all shopping and restaurants. Public transportation very conveniently accessible. Our daily breakfast was wonderful. This hotel has a first class staff and the rooms were spotless.
